My question is, do they really need to lock the White House at all? The place is swarming with Secret Service guys, they should know who comes in and who leaves… I don’t think the dead bolt on the side door is really going to prevent much of anything from happening!

Of course, the fact that the President could return home, and yet the staff was still seemingly unaware does suggest that for some reason, they’re not on their A game at the moment. Step it up, house staff!

In fact, conservatives don’t give a hoot about locked doors at the White House. They are upset at the additional $4 billion the government borrows every day, while Democrats try to block meaningful spending cuts. But you won’t here that story mentioned at Mediaite or on MSNBC tonight, where even the President looking foolish is seen as one more reason to lash out and change the subject away from substantive issues. Wouldn’t you consider it fair to blame the FY2008 and FY2009 budgets on the Democrats, since Senator Obama voted for that spending and his party had the majority in both houses of Congress?

The last budget passed when the GOP was in the majority contained a deficit of about $145-150 billion. With the Democrats in the majority, the deficit jumped to about $450 billion. And then with Obama in the White House, $1500-1700 billion. These events are not unrelated or irrelevant factors: elect Democrats and spending goes up. Elect more Democrats and spending goes up at unbelievable velocities
