@Steve, "There are those big fans, whose misspelled statements of love for the star show the often incomprehensible truth of our overly forgiving nation – and the powerful cult of celebrity."

Boy, do you have that right! It is even worse with Michael Vick and Michael Jackson. The intelligence level of the majority of their fans is more than obvious and they have been out in full force defending the actions of their heroes based on their "talent," not to mention the Ted Kennedy bunch that thinks that all of his "good deeds" since Chappaquiddick excuses his actions, or should I say inactions, during that incident. There are still those celebrity crazed fans who think OJ got a raw deal!

I know Larry's is a celebrity show, but an entire hour seems a bit much. I can't imagine anyone with a brain wanting to sit through this inarticulate " BS for that long. And what is with that clown outfit?

@Joe Callan, I agree! The rich and infamous know how to work the system.

@schmoovemoves, "It’s our endemic refusal to hold people responsible for actions that are unacceptable in civilized society, and our willingness to trade light punishment for a wad of bills and an attractive smile."

I guess it depends on what your definition of "civilized society" is. It is redefined by the court system every day as they release more and more of these people back into the community with barely a slap on the hand.

The ignorance of our celebrity crazed society is at fault here as well as organizations like the ACLU whose purpose in life is to release criminals back into society based on what they call "good behavior." Just take a look at the "early release" program in California. It is bad enough that these people are released back into the population to recommit crimes, but these types of cases also send a terrible message to kids and would be criminals in our society.

Well, we complain that he doesn’t “appear” sorry, but think about it: he was let off the hook by the courts and his screaming fans. He doesn’t need to ACTUALLY be sorry.

Now that the court system has taught him that the young, rich and famous don’t get any serious repercussions for leaving another human being to die in a submerged car what exactly is it that we expect from this young man?

Ted Kennedy committed a terrible wrong against another person. Shame on him for doing it, of course, but shame on the society he lives in for not getting him to SEE what a terrible wrong it was. He’s just one punk–the bigger problem here isn’t about Ted Kennedy. It’s our endemic refusal to hold people responsible for actions that are unacceptable in civilized society, and our willingness to trade light punishment for a wad of bills and an attractive smile.

Just sayin . . .

Brown is total scumbag. It's only a matter of time until he beats the hell out of another woman. Guys don't just slip up and punch their girlfriend in the face repeatedly. He should be in jail not bling-blinging on Larry King.
