Reliable Sources Buries The Lead In Jon Stewart Vs. Fox News Vs. Politifact Dustup

The normally sharp Howard Kurtz really missed the boat in his rundown of the recent Jon Stewart/Chris Wallace interview, and Politifact-ual aftermath. On Sunday morning’s Reliable Sources, he and his panel missed the mark on Stewart’s response to Politifact’s charge that his assertion about Fox News viewers was false, and when panelist Aaron Barnhart tried to bring up the crucial edit of an exchange about Fox exec Bill Sammon, Kurtz promised to go back to it, but never did.

Olby Video

On Sunday morning’s Reliable Sources, host Howard Kurtz and panel discussed the debut of Keith Olbermann‘s Countdown II: The Wrath of KO, and former Mediaite-er Glynnis MacNicol made a great observation about Olbermann’s ostensible olive branch to former colleague Rachel Maddow. In fact, many television critics hailed Zucker for “the coup” of keeping Leno when this move was announced. Let’s take a look at what critics said at the time, and compare it to their thoughts now. Fun! Right?

Twitter is now steering the media conversation in an unimaginable way, with insider gossip and PR lines dictating the direction of the ongoing attacks from Keith Olbermann. Two of the current stars of their respective networks, Olbermann and Glenn Beck were bound to clash, and it took a tweet from the Kansas City Star‘s Aaron Barnhart to get the controversy started. It started last week – and is still going on.
