President Obama Condemns Ahmadinejad’s 9/11 Accusation: “It Was Offensive, It Was Hateful”

Obama Ahmadinejad video

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made waves yesterday when he suggested before the U.N. General Assembly that the U.S. government may have orchestrated the terrorist attacks of September 11. (Maybe the Iranian leader was still stinging because President Obama never responded to a message) Ahmadinejad sent shortly after he was elected to the American presidency.

Shepard Smith Will Interview Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tomorrow

shep_iran video

Fox News’s Shepard Smith has just announced that he’ll be interviewing controversial Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tomorrow on Studio B and the Fox Report. The interview is a great get, even for the highest rated cable network—Ahmadinejad made headlines this afternoon when he suggested to the UN’s General Assembly that 9/11 may have been an inside job.

Iranian Website Denies Holocaust Using Anti-Semitic Caricatures

Holocartoons

A new Iranian website has launched, dedicated to denying and mocking the Holocaust, particularly through caricatures. The website, holocartoons.com, has unsurprisingly angered Israel — and is actually relatively consistent with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s views.

ABC News’ Ahmadinejad Translator? An Iranian Jewish Stand-Up Comic

Millions of Americans tuned in as Diane Sawyer made her full-time debut behind the anchor desk Monday night for ABC World News, and shared an exclusive sit-down interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But that voice you heard in English calling Sawyer a “respectable lady?” That was Jewish-Iranian stand-up comedian, New York City’s Dan Ahdoot.

Ann Curry Grills Ahmadinejad: “Did You Steal This Election?”

video

Ann Curry sat down with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday for his first interview since the Iranian elections and the unrest in Iran — and got some revealing non-answers from him. Did he steal the election? “I don’t know what you mean by that.” Was there was any scenario under which Iran would develop nukes? “We do not see any need for such weapons.” And then there was this: “I don’t know what you mean by ‘no.’”

exclusive

Yesterday, Mediaite’s Robert Quigley posted a list of 8 gaffes (later reduced to 7) by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, along with the assessment that Gibbs “largely gets a free pass from the media for his many blunders.” Via an e-mail exchange with Tommy Christopher, Gibbs claimed to have “no real response,” and that he was “happy to get the criticism,” but he did have a few factual corrections for us.

Gibbs-erish: Seven Gaffes by Obama’s Press Secretary

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs seems like a nice enough guy. He has a sense of humor about his work, he maintains a friendly banter with reporters, and he was even the goalie of the North Carolina State Wolfpack soccer team. But Gibbs largely gets a free pass from the media for his many blunders. How does he do it?

Media Wins Big on MJ Memorial, Ahmadinejad Wins Bigger

Other than losing its dignity, TV has had a big win these past two weeks thanks to MJ’s untimely death. Know who else has benefited? Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Remember the Iran election?

Making Sense of the Pitney-Milbank Spat

The recent kerfuffle between Nico Pitney (Huffington Post) and Dana Milbank (Washington Post) over a clumsy exchange in a White House press conference brings to mind two media mavens rarely mentioned in the same sentence: Marshall McLuhan and Thomas Jefferson. Seen in the context of their ideas about media and government, a tiff between a [...]
