Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski has poised herself to become the Alaskan Charlie Crist by launching a write-in campaign to keep her seat in November. Her former primary opponent Joe Miller reacted to the news that he had to defeat her a second time on last night’s On the Record, where he told Greta van Susteren he wasn’t completely surprised with her “stunning” decision, given the “fairly nasty voicemail” she left him after losing.

As planned, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck appeared together on stage last night in front of a crowd of 4,000 screaming fans (some screaming less nice things than others, apparently). The line to get in was so long that the show reportedly started 45 minutes late. The NYT reports: “One protestor…stood outside holding a “Palin and Beck 2012” sign captioned “Lipstrick and Dipstick.”

Author Joe McGinniss, whose rental of the property next to Camp Palin in Wasilla, Alaska earned him his own Facebook note and a decent month of bad publicity at the hands of Governor Sarah, is calling “mission accomplished.” McGinniss told the AP over the weekend that his controversial stay– and his research– is over.

Keith Olbermann has found some strange rhetoric in the interior memos of the Joe Miller campaign (who defeated Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Alaska Republican primary. “So far,” the note explained, “the Lord has always provided the money.” Except there is now evidence that Miller’s campaign has ties to K Street, and he’s not the first Tea Party-affiliated candidate to fall in the grasp of the larger GOP.

On day two of Greta Van Susteren‘s Great Alaska Adventure, she and Sarah Palin visited Valdez and ANWR during the day and talked about it live On The Record.

While it wasn’t exactly “drill baby drill,” Palin revealed what she believes would truly be a stimulus program for America.

The Bristol Palin/Levi Johnston soap opera continues, much to the enjoyment of reality TV enthusiasts, but at the unfortunate cost of their son, Tripp, getting caught in the crossfire. Yesterday, a positive development between the teen parents finally arose after a month of engagements, break-ups, false pregnancies, and music videos: Bristol and Levi have agreed to share custody.

Sadly, it has been confirmed that former Sen. Ted Stevens did not survive the tragic plane crash in Alaska last night. During today’s broadcast, Megyn Kelly interviewed former Arizona Sen. Dennis DeConcini about Stevens who was his friend in and outside of Washington. It was a touching segment filled with a bunch of interesting stories about the late senator.

The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that a small plane carrying at least eight people, possibly including former Sen. Ted Stevens, crashed last night near Dillingham, Alaska. Search parties have been sent to the scene of the crash and the story is still developing, but many news sources are now reporting that the former Senator was in deed on the plane that crashed. Update: Local news now reports that Ted Stevens did not survive the crash.

Something funny happened to political satire blog Wonkette on the way to their latest joke: the media took them seriously. After editor Ken Layne wrote a post pondering aloud the possibility of Sarah Palin getting breast implants, the New York Daily News, the Washington Examiner, the UK Telegraph, E!, and myriad others in the media began to ask the same thing. The investigation culminated in a courageous Greta van Susteren popping the question to Palin herself.

Joe McGinniss, the Sarah Palin biographer who found a convenient vacation spot in Wasilla, Alaska right next to the state’s former first family has come out to defend himself from allegations of taking his journalistic responsibilities a little too far. While he is still working on his book on the Palins, McGinniss notes that he “couldn’t care less” about the Palin children and is “very offended by the implication… that he would be peering in on the children.”

An internet violation is not the only mess from 2008 that Sarah Palin has not yet been able to clean up. The Palins woke up to a blog post this morning by Mercede Johnston, Levi Johnston‘s sister and aunt to Sarah’s nephew, Tripp, who accuses the Palins of keeping the baby away from his father’s side of the family.

It looks like Sarah Palin’s reality television show about Alaska is one step closer to becoming, well, a reality. The reality show in question, is not, as was first rumored, a show about the Palin family. Instead, as has been mentioned before, it will be a show about Alaska hosted by Palin. And it won’t come cheap.

It seems that when Sarah Palin criticized the current socialized Canadian health care system last fall, she knew what she was talking about. Palin, who during her attack on the similar system proposed in the United States coined the term “death panels,” admitted to a crowd of supporters in Calgary, Alberta that in her youth she and her family would sneak into Canada from their remote Alaskan town for health care.

You will be happy (or surprised, depending) to hear that Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue rider, beyond the banning of four bloggers — Todd’s working the door when it comes to them — is fairly straightforward and mostly aimed at easing the experience for fans.

When looking ahead at the next year, pundits turn into prognosticators. Bloggers covering all sorts of topics and industries are now giving their predictions for what’s to come in 2010. Conventional wisdom says to go the conservative route with these choices in order to avoid looking foolish when none of your projections pan out. At the same time, there’s a key difference between picking things that are realistically possible and those that are already on the road to happening. I’ve assembled my favorite predictions covering a variety of fields and what’s supposedly in store for the near future:

Yesterday an Alaskan judge forced the custody battle between Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston to go public. Up until now the court case, filed by Bristol Palin back in November in order to obtain sole custody of Tripp Johnston-Palin has been closed to the public. This did not sit well with Levi Johnston who apparently suspects Sarah Palin of some underhanded behavior.

Apparently one of the (many?) benefits Sarah Palin will be able to enjoy when she leaves office next week is an unfiltered Twitter feed.

Palin has informed the 99,160 people who follow her at AKGovSarahPalin that she will soon be clear of her government restraints and free to let loose. Get ready folks!

For a good media-savvy, liberal, that happens to be from Alaska, the last 10 months have been nothing short of depressing.

The immediate reaction to Gov. Sarah Palin‘s unexpected announcement: mass confusion by the “media elites.” The timing was less a “news dump” and more a “screw you” to her mortal enemies in the fourth estate. This time, though, even the conservatives were confused: Charles Krauthammer called it “erratic,” Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey essentially wrote her political obituary.

Oh “gotcha” media, you just don’t understand how things are done in the “real world.”
