Earlier today, we reported on the Twitter war of words between actor Alec Baldwin and fiery conservative pundit Michelle Malkin, sparked by Malkin’s mockery of Baldwin’s activism for the late Troy Davis, and escalated by the actor’s return volley. Along the way, Malkin retweeted several vile messages that came, not from Baldwin, but from other users angry with her. Readers of The Blaze, however, might come away with the impression that Baldwin tweeted a racist attack on Malkin, if they didn’t look too closely.

Last night was a tender one on twitter for those following the Troy Davis case, not least of all for Alec Baldwin, who holds court over a notoriously prolific account and had spent much of the early evening spewing tweets about the execution. His busy and at times opinionated stream eventually caught the attention of conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, who had been keeping tabs on the case herself. Things devolved quickly from there.

Bad news for Emmy viewers who were hoping to catch Alec Baldwin tonight– an off-color phone hacking joke seems to have prompted the actor of abandon the project, leaving a trail of angry tweets behind him. The drama started last Thursday, when Baldwin was notified that a joke about the Murdoch phone hacking scandal may have been cut from an introductory comedy bit. With that rumor confirmed tonight, the actor is boycotting the Emmys and, apparently, spending the night at his trusty keyboard instead.

The Late Show with David Letterman has been on CBS for 18 whole years! That’s longer than most CW stars have been alive!* And that doesn’t even count the 12 or so years Letterman spent on the other network! So, last night, the host gave a special anniversary Top 10 List. And, in case you’re worried that it got all sentimental and treacly, I’ll just point out that the first on the list of “Ways Dave Celebrated his 18th Anniversary ” was “Got a lovely bouquet from the guy who wants to cut my tongue out.”

Andrew Breitbart is trying to cash in on Weinergate– for charity. The conservative web proprietor has taken to Twitter to promote Troopathon– a fundraising extravaganza that serves to collect money for care packages and other services to American soldiers. Breitbart, one of the event’s hosts, is offering in exchange for donations all sorts of “services,” including a roller-stake performance, a Weiner-style “manscaping,” and getting punched in the face by Alec Baldwin.

Does the idea of 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin possibly running for mayor of New York City sound like a joke to the guy who’s currently got that job? Not at all. The New York Daily News reports Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday “if he wants to run, great” on the mayor’s weekly radio show. Daily News City Hall reporter Jonathan Lemire notes that Bloomberg’s met Baldwin a few times, and is aware of one issue that would have to be addressed before a campaign could begin: “He’s got time to run, but he’s got to move into the city,” said Bloomberg. “He’s not a city resident.”

In an exclusive report in The Daily, Richard Johnson reports 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin–long an activist in Democratic politics and someone who’s toyed with a run for office–is now seriously considering a run for mayor of New York, now that Rep. Anthony Weiner “appears to have sexted himself out of the 2013 race,” writes Johnson.

Washington, DC is often referred to as “Hollywood for ugly people,” but in recent years, the town has enjoyed one night of the year when it blossoms into a Hollywood swan: The White House Correspondents Dinner, aka “Nerdprom.” As the dinner’s profile has risen, so has the demand for tickets to see, and be seen, at an event that is ostensibly a celebration of DC’s least glamorous denizens. Even as this year’s Seth Meyers-headlined fete has had to compete with the Royal Wedding, the clamor to get in has reached an all-time zenith.

Alec Baldwin’s character on 30 Rock, Jack Donaghy, is an uber-conservative with the history with the Bush administration. He even briefly worked as the “Homeland Security Director for Crisis and Weather Management” before becoming disillusioned and trying to get fired by approving a “gay bomb” (Totally true. See for yourself. It’s on Netflix) However, it turns out he also has a romantic history with one of the key figures; Condoleezza Rice. During last night’s episode, Rice cameoed as herself in a hilarious scene in which Donaghy apologizes for breaking up with her via text message.

I have a dream. In it, Brian Williams and Jon Hamm both finally admit that they just want to be doing comedy full time. They then quit their day jobs and go on the road together as a hilarious two man comedy team. After cultivating their comedic personas and on-stage chemistry, the two embark on a successful series of buddy comedies beginning with my unproduced spec script, Brian and Jon on the Road to Marrakesh. Until this happens though, we’ll have to settle for both men continuously doing tiny, comedic side projects like this one in which a cartoon Williams fights a cartoon Alec Baldwin for frozen yogurt.

Her debt to America paid, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is having a bit of fun in the post-Bush era, having just finished filming a cameo appearance for the NBC comedy 30 Rock. Rice, who had been repeatedly referred to on the program as the Alec Baldwin character Jack Doneghy’s ex-girlfriend, will be arriving in his office soon, though no word on what her role there will be.

If it seemed like everyone was ganging up on James Franco, Anne Hathaway, and the Oscars yesterday, it’s because they were. In one of many brutal takedowns, Rolling Stone‘s Peter Travers said, “The stirrings I felt from the 83rd annual Oscar show made me want to puke. How could so many stars bore so many people breathless?” Few critics could find anything positive to say about the ceremony, and many echoed the same declaration of “Worst Oscars Ever.” But that phrase may sound familiar – it’s been summoned on several occasions in years past (it’s also somewhat accepted that 1989′s show was really the worst ever). Here, a look at how reviewers of the annual spectacle have summoned the same refrain:

Last week, in connection with a new book by former President Ronald Reagan’s youngest son, Ron Reagan, Ron previewed one startling revelation: his father may have had Alzheimer’s Disease while he was still President. Ron’s brother Michael Reagan immediately called Ron an “embarrassment” on Twitter and appeared on The Early Show this morning to further discuss his disgust with his brother’s actions and to promote his own book The New Reagan Revolution.

There have been a lot of big wars of words going on in the past few weeks, but perhaps the biggest one was the battle between Stephen Baldwin and Sean Hannity! Ok…maybe it wasn’t the biggest, but at least this one appears like it will actually come to a better ending than most as Baldwin has offered a public apology to the Fox News host via AOL’s PopEater.

In the dead zone of programming between the end of Larry King Live and the debut of Piers Morgan Tonight, Anderson Cooper has been charged with hosting the hour, and in periodic Larry King tradition of inexplicable political round tables united rocker Ted Nugent and comedienne Roseanne Barr with actual political strategist Cornell Belcher. It didn’t take long for Nugent to get inappropriate, comparing CNN to “planet of the apes” for hiring Eliot Spitzer.

Senator Jack Donaghy? Perhaps, as 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin tells CNN’s Eliot Spitzer he’s “very interested” in running for office.”

The trick, Baldwin says in an exclusive interview that airs tonight on Parker Spitzer, is that running would mean the “extremely painful” decision to leave acting, where he’s at the top of his game.

Stephen Baldwin is no Alec Baldwin. But he’s cool with that, because he’s got even bigger aspirations: to become “the George Soros for Jesus.” How will he achieve this? As he told nymag.com’s Daily Intel, “I’m 44 years old, my plan is to be a billionaire by 50, which these days, that’s very doable.”

NBC Kabletown executive Jack Donaghy is the kind of guy who does his holiday shopping at Christie’s. But Alec Baldwin isn’t a Jack Donaghy, he just plays one on TV. So he’s not above doing a pair of low-budget commercials for regional supermarket chain Wegmans. The somewhat disorienting ads have the 30 Rock star trying cakes (“Let’s have one of each!”), discussing family, and harping about the price of coffee in New York.

Alec Baldwin hosted the SNL season finale last night, and while he may not have inspired the Betty White hysteria of last weekend (nor the ratings one imagines) he’s certainly a familiar face on the SNL stage. This was Baldwin’s 15th go-round as host, tying him with Steve Martin (who made a quick appearance via satellite in the monologue). Highlights from the show below, click through for video clips.

This week sees the return of Grady Wilson’s Sex Tips, featuring Kenan Thompson as elderly lothario Grady Wilson getting some help from Alec Baldwin’s mustachioed Greek sexpot in gold lamé. Yes, Facebook poking jokes are old, but familiar funny jokes executed in a slightly new way will always get a snicker.

Fine, he’s no Betty White. But his muffin can bluff just fine. Here are some of Alec Baldwin’s most memorable turns on SNL in years past, including the infamous “Schweddy Balls” sketch, Tony Bennett, and “Always Be Cobbling.”

30 Rock is well known for using both real-life news events and personalities to drive their plot, but last night’s episode featured a storyline ripped from the Mediaite headlines: NBC’s takeover by a Philadelphia cable provider, affectionately referred to as “Kabletown.” It also featured a cameo by Nightly News anchor Brian Williams (also known as “the funny one” amongst the NBC News talent lineup.
