Fox News Channel organized what America Live host Megyn Kelly accurately dubbed the “best panel ever,” comprised of Catholic League president Bill Donohue and president of the American Atheists, Dave Silverman. The two men discussed — what else? — the divisiveness and alienation some non-Christians feel this time of year, particularly when faced with a veritable twinkling forest of Christmas trees.

A new billboard is causing a bit of a stir in New Jersey. The ad, which appears on a highway that leads to New York City’s Lincoln Tunnel, features a nativity scene stamped with an unexpected message: “You know it’s a myth. This season, celebrate reason!” As the bottom of the billboard reveals, the space was rented by American Atheists. Today, the president of that organization, Dave Silverman, stopped by America Live to talk about religion, free speech, and the “war on Christmas” with Megyn Kelly.

Thanksgiving is for eating meals prepared by your loved ones and, since we hope you at least like like us here at Mediaite, here’s a little food for thought. Yesterday evening, I was watching Hardball where Chris Matthews was again making it clear that he doesn’t have a problem with the TSA body scanners, when I noticed something interesting. On the screen was a one of the scanner images, completely uncensored. It reminded me that, whenever Fox News shows one, there’s a blurry circle almost as large as the image itself. Hmmm, I wonder why the difference…

Television producers take note: the element of surprise is your greatest ally in creating compelling television. Case in point: Conservative commentator Monica Crowley predictably took the position that the real culprit in North Korea’s recent rogue behavior was a “weak” President Obama. Enter America Live host Megyn Kelly, bringing the pain to her guest’s rather obviously and overly political opinion, with sharply punctuated and exasperated “What?!”

Fox News reporter Trace Gallagher had just filed a report about a North Carolina woman who had been brought back to life after her heart had stopped for 15 minutes when he tossed back to America Live host Megyn Kelly. The astonished Fox News host tried hard to wrap her head around his explanation, and somehow arrived at the hope one can divine from this story – that having your spouse stuff you in the freezer could one day save your life. Sound funny? Maybe – but not nearly as funny as Kelly found it.

Ever get the feeling that television pundits are more adept at “playing the part” than sharing their honest thoughts and ideas? Well the following video clip of Alan Colmes vigorous defense of Harry Reid‘s spokesman’s statement on Reid’s comment that “but for (him), we’d be in a worldwide depression,’ may support that notion. As host Megyn Kelly was teasing to a commercial (and showing the new dancing Barney Frank advert), Colmes thinks that his microphone is off, and privately shares an aside that’s very different from the rhetoric he’d espoused just a minute earlier.

For the second day in a row, Fox News seems to be ignoring the rest of the alphabet in favor of just three letters: N, P, and R. Today, on America Live with Megyn Kelly, correspondent James Rosen brought up a blog post written by Eric Boehlert of Media Matters—one that calls for NPR to take action against Mara Liasson, who is both NPR’s national political correspondent and a regular presence on Fox shows like Special Report with Bret Baier and Fox News Sunday.

Today on America Live with Megyn Kelly, the subject at hand was the legal implications of a viral Power Point presentation outlining (and ranking) of a Duke student’s sexual conquests. Kimberly Guilfoyle and Jonna Spilbor joined Ms. Kelly to wax legal on the controversial case. But it was how the segment ended, with the Fox News host offering her unsolicited advise to her female viewers that got our attention. “Don’t be easy” she exclaimed, a video of which can be viewed below.

A North New Jersey regional website is reporting that a reporter for WNYW Fox5, the New York CIty’s Fox News affiliate, is being held on $250,000 bail after being arrested for aggravated sexual assault on a minor. The reporter has been identified as Charles Leaf, who received some national attention for an attempted ambush interview with Sharif el-Gamal, the developer behind the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque,” back in late August of this year.

Last week, a British eco-interest group called 10:10 UK released a video advertising a new initiative that calls for participants to lower their carbon emissions by 10%. The video, called “No Pressure,” shows a series of clips in which various people tell groups about the initiative, then blow those who don’t want to participate to smithereens. Its imagery is so graphic that after receiving numerous complaints, 10:10 took the video off of its website and issued a vaguely apologetic mea culpa.

New York gubernatorial candidate and Tea Party darling Carl Paladino spoke with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly today about Paladino’s greatest hits of recent days: his dust-up with Fred Dicker of the New York Post and his accusations that Andrew Cuomo had extra-martial affairs.

The executives behind CBS’ hit cop drama CSI had a rather (evil?) genius idea for their season premier when they cast teen heartthrob Justin Bieber to play a troubled kid involved in a Tea Party-esque conspiracy. Not only did they help their ratings by likely addign loads of adoring teenage eyeballs, but they also knew that a news media outlet would provide free publicity surrounding the “controversy.” Enter Megyn Kelly.

One of the strangest — and at times compelling — parts of the brave new media world in which we we now find ourselves is the increasingly blurred line between hard facts and opinion. Sure, sometimes opinions have beeen shared in a way that some have found irresponsible, but just as often, the imparting of a personal anecdote is a rather benign catharses for both newscaster and viewer. Case in point? Fox News Megyn Kelly reliving her first grade trauma as bullying victim.

Speculation that Hillary Clinton may make a run for President in 2012 is a meme that just won’t die. And while President Obama‘s poll numbers and popularity continue their downward spiral one imagine the media will continue to invoke the specter of Candidate Hillary. Behold today’s addition to the speculation.

The most exciting primary race from Tuesday surprisingly turned out to be the GOP Senate race in Alaska, where Sarah Palin-endorsed Joe Miller appears ready to unseat incumbent Lisa Murkowski.

On his usual appearances alongside Megyn Kelly, John Stossel limits his libertarian leanings to debating feudalism, showing off his mustache, and taking rides on his government-funded go-cart. For better or worse, today’s conversation took a turn for the awkward, with Stossel as a passionate defender of bad Showtime pseudo-porn against big government overreach.

The hosts joked about the “fight” – but their expressions of surprise about on-air disagreement is ironic given MSNBC’s history.

On today’s America Live, Megyn Kelly interviewed a real-life victim of MSNBC contributor Dave Weigel‘s furious private emails, radio host Hugh Hewitt. Hewitt, who Weigel called “buffoonish” in one of the emails leaked last week, fielded questions on Weigel, media bias, and the personal insults towards him, but while Kelly was consistently incensed at Weigel throughout the interview, Hewitt’s response was, at best, tepid.

When going all out in opposition to something, it’s best to always have your facts straight. It’s a lesson that would have well served Wisconsin County Supervisor Peggy West, who has come out strong against the Arizona illegal immigration law claiming that it doesn’t make sense for Arizona to be so agitated about illegal immigration. It’s not Arizona is like “Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico.”

“Are more guns the key to curbing violent crime?”

That’s the question Megyn Kelly posed to her viewers today during America Live, introducing an interview with John Stossel and previewing his FBN show tonight. Also – Megyn Kelly likes shooting guns.
