Sumner Redstone Leaves Reporter Creepy Voicemail Promising Not To ‘Kill’ Anonymous MTV Source

Viacom head Sumner Redstone is furious with claims that his new pet project, a Pussycat Dolls-esque pop band/reality TV package called the Electric Barbarellas, is terrible. After Daily Beast senior correspondent Peter Lauria wrote a report that Redstone is trying to “force” MTV to promote the band in a new reality show, Redstone left an ominous voicemail on the writer’s office phone asking for the identity of the source that leaked him the story.

Surprise! Some People At Fox News Are Jealous Of Glenn Beck’s Success

Howard Kurtz of The Washington Post (and CNN, it should be noted) writes a column today quoting various anonymous staffers who are “worried” about the rise of Glenn Beck within Fox News.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that some are voicing their concerns about Beck (and doubting his emotional sincerity), albeit anonymously, but there’s a very simple reason why it doesn’t matter.

Yesterday afternoon, Talking Points Memo ran a story about the White House’s reaction to discussion of an opt-out clause in the Senate’s health care bill. But Harvard’s Nieman Journalism Lab noticed that TPM was taking an unusual amount of criticism for the story’s use of anonymous sources.
