David Gregory Defends President Obama Against Rick Santorum’s Accusation Of Appeasement

gregory-santorum-iran video

On Sunday’s Meet The Press, David Gregory called out surging Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on a speech he gave last month to a Republican Jewish Coalition Candidates Forum, comparing President Obama‘s foreign policy to appeasement during World War II. “How can that possibly be accurate, if you take an objective look at the foreign policy of this administration? What on Iran, specifically, separates the approach that President Obama has taken and that of President Bush?”

Bernie Goldberg And Bill O’Reilly Trade Andy Rooney War Stories: ‘He Wasn’t A Stand-Up Guy’

Picture 3 video

The news that nonagenarian Andy Rooney would be leaving his post at 60 Minutes resulted in much warmth and nostalgia from a loyal audience, but if he was expecting it from Bill O’Reilly and Bernaie Goldberg, he was left wanting. Goldberg and O’Reilly, who had both worked at CBS, traded stories of Rooney being mean to them both, with Goldberg concluding he was cowardly and “not a stand-up guy.” Ouch.

Want To Get Out Of Jury Duty By Pretending To Be Racist? It Might Get You ‘Indefinite Jury Duty’

*Jun 19 - 00:05*

It’s fair to say that most of us have been tempted to get out of jury duty by pretending to be a little more hateful / insane / insanely hateful than we truly are, but we generally have the good sense to know that playing up biases takes a certain level of finesse: In other words, hating everyone seems a little suspect, unless you happen to be a television pundit. One woman learned this the hard way when a judge sentenced her to “indefinite jury duty” (a particularly heinous circle of hell, lit only by fluorescent lighting and dotted with vending machines that eat your cash) after suspecting her of lying in order to get out of serving jury duty.

Bill Moyers and Michael Winship, both of whom work / have worked for Public Affairs Television, joined together to write a post for the Huffington Post, defending NPR against “another assault from the its long-time nemesis — the right-wing machine.” Unless you’ve been flying idly through the Milky Way with a goddess or two in tow, you’re likely aware of the undercover video, posted by conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe‘s Project Veritas, showing former NPR executive Ron Schiller making negative, and highly unprofessional, remarks about Tea Party members and the Republican party.

LA Times: “Unacceptable Level of Bias” On The Hard News Side Of FOX

fox-news-carbon-neutral

In light of the recent disclosure of memos from Bill Sammon, Fox News‘ Washington managing editor, The Los Angeles Times took Fox News to task over its “Fair and Balanced” slogan specifically and its journalistic credibility more generally. Without making overblown claims of past bias by the entire network, as many Fox News critics enjoy doing, the editorial simply states two recent facts and objectively asks those in charge of Fox News to respond.

Goldberg Calls Out Fox News Hosts ‘Pretending To Be Journalists’…On Fox News

video

Something happened on The O’Reilly Factor last night that rarely occurs in cable news – criticism of a network, on that network. Bernie Goldberg was on with Bill O’Reilly, and played the role of ombudsman.

The conversation highlighted the main criticism with Fox News and their opinion ‘journalists’, while also showing what separates O’Reilly from his fellow FNC hosts.

Is Bias Seeping Into the Post-Murdoch WSJ? UPDATE

As the debate over health care reform continues to dominate the news, there is the inevitable criticism of media bias from both sides of the aisle. Aside from their editorial pages, the Wall Street Journal is well known for its unique focus on reporting facts, keeping its reputation as an unbiased source of news untarnished. But since its acquisition by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. two years ago, has the WSJ succumbed to the alleged bias that has afflicted other News Corp. properties Fox News and the NY Post?
