Shirley Sherrod Sues Andrew Breitbart Over Edited Video

Sherrod Breitbart

Last July, Shirley Sherrod promised that she would sue Andrew Breitbart over the video that led to her losing her job at the USDA. This weekend, she proved that those comments were accurate and not, you know, selectively edited lies. Breitbart was served with the lawsuit while at CPAC.

Too Crazy for Breitbart? Media Matters Hilariously Gets its First Scalp

pezzi

Remember when I said Media Matters’ case against Major Garrett‘s front row bid was thin compared to their usual work? This is what I was talking about. The liberal media watchdog launched a hilariously thorough barrage of research at Dr. Kevin Pezzi, who says he was sought out by Big Government founder Andrew Breitbart to write about Shirley Sherrod.

The attack seems to have worked, as Pezzi’s BigGov work has been scrubbed from the site, with only the google cache to remember him by.

Shirley Sherrod Would Like BigGovernment Shut Down

Shirley Sherrod is angry and justifiably so. However, while some recipients of her scorn might not be entirely deserving, you can’t begrudge her for having a beef with Andrew Breitbart. Today on CNN’s American Morning, John Roberts and Kiran Chetry pressed Sherrod as to what she thinks the appropriate payback would be. After a little prodding from the CNN team, Sherrod didn’t mince words; she’d like BigGovernment shut down.

Robert Gibbs Apologizes to Shirley Sherrod on Behalf of Obama Administration

As expected, the topic of the day at today’s White House briefing was Shirley Sherrod. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs fielded many questions on her ouster, apologizing on behalf of the administration for what he rightly called an “injustice.” In a dramatic turn, Jake Tapper informed Gibbs that Sherrod was watching the briefing, and Gibbs directed his apology to her. Tapper also pointed out that he (among others) had performed due diligence before acting on the story (unlike Secretary Tom Vilsack). See the remarkable exchange below.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Reconsider Shirley Sherrod’s Dismissal

What a blazing fast 24 hours this has been in the Shirley Sherrod story. Essentially fired Monday night based on a 2-minute Youtube clip, the former USDA official took to print and television yesterday to give her side of the story. Even as new facts emerged that caused the NAACP to retract its denunciation of Sherrod, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, with the White House’s support, doubled down on her dismissal.

White House Must Reinstate Sherrod…Said Obama in 2008

While the White House denies any involvement in the forced resignation of USDA official Shirley Sherrod, CNN is now reporting that a White House source says that President Obama was briefed on the situation, and that he “fully supports the decision.” This is in stark contrast to the Barack Obama who showed such a deft grasp on race issues in America in his redemptive speech on race during the 2008 campaign. In fact, Sherrod’s full speech can’t help but remind me of that incredibly tough, courageous address.

Big Government’s Whiplash-Inducing Position Shift On The Shirley Sherrod Story – Updated

I just read a stirring article on BigGovernment about poor Shirley Sherrod, the victim of a wrongful termination by the USDA. The article, by conservative blogger Jeff Dunetz, tells the infuriating story of how the White House and the NAACP instantly “condemned” Sherrod after video of a speech Sherrod had given seemed to show that she was racist against whites. It’s a great article. It’s just a little strange though that it’s published on the very site that was condemning Sherrod mere hours ago and, y’know, were the very ones to release the edited video that got the woman fired in the first place.

Wow, Did The White House Just Fall For Andrew Breitbart’s Game?

Anyone else starting to get the sense the White House has been set up by Andrew Breitbart and fallen for it hook line and sinker? Any doubts to the contrary were quickly eliminated 30 seconds into Glenn Beck‘s show tonight.

James O’Keefe has been enjoying his moment in the right-wing spotlight since his undercover prostitution/ACORN videos debuted last week – they’ve gotten major play on Fox News, Drudge and other Web outlets.

Then the young star showed up on Fox & Friends today in a “pimp” outfit and dropped one of the most “ridiculous” lines ever.
