On last night’s Red Eye, however, it was Feinberg who faced indiscriminate criticism for being “obnoxious” and “awful” in interrupting another meal to lecture.

With the news of New York’s new law permitting same-sex couples to marry, the statistics on who is getting married in states that had previously done the same are now coming to the fore, and it turns out men are simply marrying less, no matter what their orientation. On this morning’s Red Eye, Greg Gutfeld and company took a guess at what the statistics meant and purveyed some advice on how to avoid getting gay-married.

Rep. Michele Bachmann is one prone to some controversy, though the type she found this week was certainly new: musician Tom Petty requested she stop using his song “American Girl” on the campaign trail. It’s neither the first nor last time that a politicians finds themselves in that position, and the fact that it’s common knowledge one needs permission to use songs had last night’s Red Eye panel asking: did Rep. Bachmann spark Petty’s wrath on purpose?

In a bizarre turn of events, the most prominent topic on Glenn Beck‘s last week on the program wasn’t the impending progressive threat or the corruption of the Obama administration, but how a bunch of obnoxious New York liberals may have spilled wine on his wife. On last night’s/this morning’s Red Eye, the panel didn’t doubt the story, calling the witness admitting to her friend spilling wine “stupid for doing so,” but also questioned why Beck thought he could survive such a public appearance.

On Fox News’ Red Eye, host Greg Gutfeld led a discussion on the much-talked about debate between Chris Wallace and Jon Stewart regarding media bias. Although Gutfeld began with his own critical view of Stewart and unsurprising defense of Fox, many on the panel actually applauded Stewart and even agreed with him that hosting The Daily Show is much harder than Wallace’s job.

After three weeks of non-stop, painfully easy puns, the saga of Anthony Weiner and his photophilic body has finally come to a close. In honor of their 1,000th episode, airing tonight, here are five reasons why staying up with the Red Eye crew is worth the sleep deprivation.

The Red Eye panel know a gift when they see one, and so host Greg Gutfeld began the fourth program to feature Rep. Anthony Weiner‘s indecent possible tweets by thanking the Congressman for the material. But Gutfeld and his panel for the night also advised the Congressman to be forthcoming with the photos and stop “panicking,” lest the hesitation sentence him in the public eye.

President Barack Obama’s trip to Ireland this week is sure to establish dialogue and foster peace between our two nations. But it has also made America aware of Jedward, a horrifying, Vanilla Ice inspired twin pop duo that tore last night’s/this morning’s Red Eye panel asunder, as Greg Gutfeld argued submitting the President to a Jedward concert “an act of war,” while Reason‘s Nick Gillespie submitted that only Jedward could “liberate the Arab World.”

Upon the capture and death of Osama bin Laden, the good folks at Red Eye made one concrete prediction about the ramifications of the raid: whatever happens, there were “clearly huge amounts of porn” in the bin Laden compound. Not ones to waste a victory, Greg Gutfeld and crew celebrated by guessing movie titles, hiding their laptops and debating the merits of amateur versus professional porn.

The most recent Donald Trump media mess comes thanks to Jerry Seinfeld, who withdrew from a charity event for St. Jude’s Hospital in light of all of Trump’s birther hoo-hah. The Red Eye team is rarely one to run away from a circus (or a trainwreck), but when it comes to the latest hullaballoo surrounding Donald Trump‘s increasingly growing viability (?) as a presidential candidate in 2012, they had little sympathy, politically or otherwise. Saturday morning host Andy Levy kicked the crew off denouncing Trump’s insistence of “recycling falsehoods,” but by the end of the segment it was Bill Schulz who was going hair-to-hair against the Donald.

This week saw the arrival of perhaps the strangest and most hilarious bit of secret information related to the secret-exposing website Wikileaks and, shockingly, they didn’t expose it: it’s a video of website creator Julian Assange dancing in an Icelandic night club, failing to find dance partners for obvious reasons. The Red Eye crew took a shot at evaluating the moves, and the verdict? Assange should likely not audition for Dancing with the Stars.

Greg Gutfeld gave his eponymous “Greg-alogue” a rest this week to make room for this week’s biggest #winner: Charlie Sheen, his trials and tribulations, his victories and catchphrases. Tired of hearing contrived concern for Sheen in a media that’s enjoying the ride as much as he is, Gutfeld takes a stand for Sheen, while the panel try to balance Sheen’s personal freedoms with the damage he has allegedly done to family and friends alike.

Lawrence O’Donnell has really taken a liking to starting feuds in his new hour, and ever since he started calling out Bill O’Reilly for being a “faux Irish tough guy” and Glenn Beck for apologizing about something O’Donnell wanted an apology for. If you’ve been wondering who on Fox News was going to take the bait, your wait is over: Greg Gutfeld has taken up the good fight, defending all Fox News employees– including the security guy and the cleaning ladies– from O’Donnell’s wrath.

A week after the revelry and serious business that is the Conservative Political Action Conference, the crew of Red Eye took a look back at their visit to Washington and their talks with attendees. Talking politics, of course, was paramount, but they still had time to ponder the goings-on at the public bathrooms, what they would say to Justin Bieber should they meet, and to reminiscine about how their night out seems to have rendered a number of the women of CPAC mute.

Abstinence advocate and pseudo-motivational speaker Bristol Palin received some bad news this week when Washington University in St. Louis revoked her invitation to speak at their “Sexual Responsibility Week.” Given that the university had previously welcomed personalities such as Van Jones to campus, many are arguing that the younger Palin’s exclusion from the event was political, and last night/this morning the Red Eye crew stood up for her ability to teach on the matter.

In an interview with the Advocate, actor Richard Chamberlain recently discussed the danger for young leading men actors to come out of the closet and advised that in today’s culture it’s still better for their career to keep their sexuality a secret. This got Red Eye host Greg Gutfeld wondering “how hilarious is it, that as the military now dumps [Don't Ask, Don't Tell] a Hollywood icon is imploring actors to embrace it. Anyway, why don’t we demand from Hollywood what Hollywood demands from the military?”

People magazine recently crowned Ryan Reynolds their Sexiest Man Alive, so why shouldn’t famous unsexy males get some special recognition too with BuzzFeed’s 50 Unsexiest Men Alive 2010 list? Apparently upset about not being included on either list, Red Eye’s hypnotic host Greg Gutfeld, societal scholar Bill Schulz and caffeinated comedian Nick DiPaolo unleashed a funny fury of put-downs aimed towards unsexy males both on and off the list.

The reaction to Juan Williams‘ firing from NPR earlier this week has been anything but tepid, with Williams supporters calling for everything from his reinstatement to an investigation of the incident by Congress. More commonly, however, are the calls for NPR to be defunded and converted into a private company. On this morning’s Red Eye on Fox News, Greg Gutfeld admitted hates NPR, but he’d rather keep it around as an exhibit of “subsidized failure.”
