Even taking into consideration the conservative convention straw polls that have somehow put him in the frontrunner position for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, Ron Paul just can’t catch a break. Now even his most lasting contribution to the national political conversation, the “Tea Party,” is being reappropriated to CNBC on-air editor Rick Santelli.

The Tea Party movement has prompted its share of outrage and confusion. But somewhere along the road paved with falsified birth certificates and hand-written signs, people apparently never considered how adopting the beverage would affect the tea industry and those who subscribe to tea party culture — “the kind where you mind your manners and consider proper brewing temperatures.” It’s not good.
