Journalist Chris Hedges Argues With CBC’s Kevin O’Leary: ‘This Sounds Like Fox News And I Don’t Go On Fox News!’
A contentious interview about Occupy Wall Street given last week on Canadian network CBC’s The Lang & O’Leary Exchange is going viral. The program’s host Kevin O’Leary went after Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Chris Hedges‘s sympathetic views of the protest, calling him a “left wing nutbar.” “If you want to shut down every corporation, every bank, [...]
Maxine Waters: ‘I Don’t Know Who The President Was Talking To, We’re Not Complaining’
California Congresswoman and former Congressional Black Caucus chair Maxine Waters has been critical of President Obama‘s approach to unemployment, particularly within black communities where the rate is nearly double the national average, and she found it “curious” that President Obama would call on CBC members this weekend to: “Shake it off. Stop complaining. Stop grumbling. Stop crying. We are going to press on. We have work to do.”
Why Can’t The Congressional Black Caucus Be More Like The Tea Party?
The Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference kicks off this week in Washington, DC. Here’s how the Tea Party became so influential and the three reasons why the CBC isn’t yet capable of doing the same thing.

On Sunday morning’s Up with Chris Hayes, the panel discussed the contrast between the way Politico reported President Obama’s speech before the Congressional Black Caucus, and the Associated Press‘ reporting. Unlike Politico, who used the official transcription to pull quotes, the AP’s article reflected the President’s folksier delivery by quotin’ him without the dropped g’s.
Mark Smith, the AP reporter who wrote the story, commented on the debate exclusively for Mediaite.
Is NBC Aware Non-Americans Are Competing At The Olympics?
Add American chauvinism to a list of NBC Olympic grievances that include time delayed broadcasting, pathetic Internet coverage, and the idiotic decision to put last night’s USA vs. Canada hockey game on MSNBC instead of NBC. And now this, dare we say scathing, piece from the NYT‘s Alessandra Stanley.
The Audacity of Going Rouge
(Not A Typo) (Update)
How do you get a book of grave, intellectual critiques of Sarah Palin, printed by a recently-launched independent publisher, to get national press attention and a panel discussion on Entertainment Tonight‘s “The Insider?” Easy: call it Going Rouge and make the cover as much of a one-off swap as the title.
