Political commentator Goldie Taylor appeared on CNN Newsroom Sunday evening to respond to Texas Governor Rick Perry‘s comments, in which he deemed calls for the bringing of criminal charges against of the Marines urinating on the bodies of slain Taliban, “over-the-top.”

On Sunday’s CNN Newsroom, host Don Lemon spoke with political analyst Goldie Taylor about recent racially-insensitive incidents among several GOP candidates. “Let’s be clear, these are not stumbles or miscues, these are absolutely planned, seeded, on-purpose stuff,” Taylor exclaimed.

There is absolutely nothing funny about the child molestation charges being leveled against celebrated Penn State Defensive Coordinator Jerry Sandusky. However, for those that with a dark sense of humor, there’s something about the least funny stories that lend themselves to the funniest live TV bloopers. That was true during this absolutely classic clip and it’s true again today after a bad typo during a CNN story reported Sandusky’s former employer as being “Peen State” University.

On CNN’s Newsroom, correspondent Shannon Travis reported that following a debate with Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain refused to answer questions relating to his sexual harassment scandal and angrily scolded journalists about ethics, cutting off a Washington Post reporter mid-question. “Mr. Cain, the attorney for one of the women who filed a sexual harassment complaint about you…” “Don’t even go there!” Cain interrupted.

On CNN’s Newsroom this afternoon, anchor Brooke Baldwin observed that at last night’s GOP debate, Rick Perry kept referring to fellow candidate Herman Cain as “brother.” “Did you notice that while you were watching?” Baldwin asked her audience.

Pastor Robert Jeffress is getting his 15 minutes of fame this weekend after publicly declaring that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was a non-Christian “cult” and getting the pleasure of introducing Rick Perry at a speaking engagement. After his initial comment, Jeffress went on Anderson Cooper 360º and made some eyebrow-raising comments about President Obama’s “purported” religion. Today he returned to CNN once more, answering in the affirmative when asked if religion should trump competence in elections.

CNN White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux has been named a dayside anchor for the network, effective January 31. Ken Jautz, executive vice president of CNN/U.S., made the announcement this morning. Malveaux replaces Tony Harris, who quit the network.

CNN says Malveaux will CNN Newsroom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays, joining a dayside lineup that includes Kyra Phillips, Ali Velshi and Brooke Baldwin.
