NY Times columnist Paul Krugman observed 9/11 this weekend with a provocative blog post entitled “Years of Shame.” In it he calls out “Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror,” of that day and suggests that the memory of 9/11 has been primarily used as a “wedge issue” for political gain. Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly hosted a heated debate on this column between former Bush administration official Brad Blakeman and Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin.

Uh oh. Now Tim Pawlenty is getting the Newt Gingrich treatment. No, his campaign staff didn’t leave. No, his phone didn’t accidentally show off his questionable music choice. And, no, his campaign materials weren’t mocked by the Trinity Killer. (Man, Gingrich has had a really tough month) What did happen is that, like Gingrich, Pawlenty found himself covered in glitter thanks to some gay rights activists.

Bill O’Reilly and Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin strangely agreed regarding the mainstream liberal reaction to President Obama’s efforts in Libya. However, when it came to discussing American involvement in Libya, O’Reilly and Benjamin could not have disagreed more.

Karl Rove can breathe a temporary sigh of relief. Code Pink, the activist group that made headlines during Rove’s recent book tour for trying to place him under citizen’s arrest has apparently turned their attention to BP Oil. The group was caught on tape outside the company’s Texas headquarters protesting the spill by stripping mostly naked and rubbing their bodies with crude oil, which really must feel very awful.

Karl Rove gave his own ‘fair and balanced’ critique of Fox and Friends this morning after the show opted to introduce his segment with a clip from last month’s the Code Pink protest at a book signing event in Beverly Hills. Rove was not happy.

Yesterday we reported about some determined Code Pink protesters who heckled Karl Rove the Fox News analyst and former Bush adviser, calling him a liar, and a war criminal. Well today, the protester, and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans appeared on Fox News and felt the ire of host Megyn Kelly. The spirited video, after the jump:

Rove was chased from his own book signing yesterday in Beverly Hills by some determined Code Pink protesters who heckled the former Bush adviser, calling him a liar, and a war criminal. According to the report and video after the jump, he engaged a number of the protesters accusing them of being perfect examples of the “intolerance of the left.”

“Culture wars” are a common topic on the O’Reilly Factor, but rarely does it get so personal as to call out fellow news anchors — but not last night. Monica Crowley, subbing for host Bill O’Reilly, quickly reminded viewers why she’s so popular with her conservative base. Last night, she went after Katie Couric, asking if Couric’s comments about an “angry nation” represented and “elite left-wing media looking down on Americans.” And that was just the beginning.
