By now, it is a well-established fact that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney flips more often than a Nadia Comaneci flash mob, but a new radio ad from the Romney campaign reveals that his omni-positional malady is, apparently, communicable. The ad contains some recent, glowing praise from conservative mouth-bomber Ann Coulter, who somewhat famously torched Romney just a few months ago, at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

On the heels of his “To Catch A Journalist” sting video, conservative activist James O’Keefe sat for a nearly 30-minute interview for Mediaite on Monday, discussing his attacks on Huffington Post’s Sam Stein, and his discrediting of Rutgers Professor Jeff Keefe. Toward the end of our interview, I asked O’Keefe if he would mind answering a few nagging questions about his previous work, specifically the CNN sex boat “caper,” and the racial subtext of his ACORN pimp costume.

At last year’s CPAC convention, Andrew Breitbart and I had a much-publicized dustup over conservative dress-up artiste James O’Keefe (he of the undercover NPR “sting” video), concerning the racial overtones of O’Keefe’s choice to wear a pimp costume in the intro to his ACORN videos. That encounter didn’t go so well, but this year’s CPAC offered a fresh chance to discuss the issue. During a long lunch with Breitbart, liberal filmmaker Lee Stranahan, and liberal blogger Mike Stark, I finally got an answer to my question.

A week after the revelry and serious business that is the Conservative Political Action Conference, the crew of Red Eye took a look back at their visit to Washington and their talks with attendees. Talking politics, of course, was paramount, but they still had time to ponder the goings-on at the public bathrooms, what they would say to Justin Bieber should they meet, and to reminiscine about how their night out seems to have rendered a number of the women of CPAC mute.

Yesterday, many of the country’s Libertarians were up in arms over what they saw as an intentional attempt by Fox News to discredit Rep. Ron Paul. The situation stemmed from Fox News playing a clip of Paul’s 2010 victory in the CPAC straw poll and incorrectly identifying it as his 2011 victory. While Fox News told Mediaite that it was a mistake, the Paul supporters believed it was done because the 2010 video had more audible booing. Today, on America’s Newsroom, the network offered its promised correction.

This weekend, Rep. Ron Paul won the straw poll at this year’s CPAC the second consecutive year. However, when he was interviewed about victory during America’s Newsroom on Fox News, yesterday, they aired the clip of his announced win in 2010 in which there is a significantly higher amount of booing from the crowd. Fox News tells Mediaite that this was a mistake and that they will be issuing an correction on America’s Newsroom tomorrow morning.

All of the real action at the Conservative Political Action Conference goes on behind the scenes, and one notable trend emerged in my private conversations with prominent conservatives at the confab: most offered effusive praise for President Obama over his handling of terrorism. I related this to National Journal Hill correspondent Major Garrett during our interview, and asked if he thought the issue would come up in the 2012 campaign.

Last weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was a veritable font of interesting news stories and entertaining video clips from conservative thought leaders and prospective Republican presidential candidates. While those who play close attention to the event focused on the political differences between the personalities who took turns at the dais, tonight Jon Stewart focused on their commonalities — namely their hackneyed jabs towards President Obama.

Chris Matthews had some fun today responding to the craziness he perceived at the CPAC convention. In addition to Matthews comparing the whole conference to some type of levitation carnival act that “has nothing to do with reality,” guest David Corn also joined in to describe CPAC as a sideshow full of creatures, a zoo where you can feed the animals and an alternate universe with no truth and just bad one-liners.

Although many consider CPAC to have been a successful gathering of conservatives and ideas, don’t count Rush Limbaugh among that group, as he expressed disappointment with what he perceived to be a new and different CPAC. Republican Congressman Ron Paul appeared on CNN this morning to bask in the glory of his CPAC straw poll victory, to share his vision for America, and to respond to Donald Trump‘s claim last week at CPAC that although he likes Paul, he doesn’t think he can win the election for President.

Now for your additional viewing pleasure (or torture), here’s conservative commentator Ann Coulter‘s full speech at CPAC. Depending on one’s political viewpoint, you are likely to either enjoy Coulter delivering a rapid-fire succession of hilarious one-liners or are likely to find yourself repulsed and offended by her “comedic” commentary.

When conservative commentator Ann Coulter appears before a supportive audience it’s easy to picture her as a great stand-up comedian delivering one hilariously offensive zinger after another. At the CPAC yesterday, Coulter mocked President Obama for hearing the voices of Egyptians but ignoring the Tea Party, and suggested “as long as Obama hears their voices, maybe he should ask them what they think of Obamacare – maybe the Egyptians can talk him out of it?” And she was just getting started.

Returning champion Rep. Ron Paul has once the 2011 CPAC straw poll with 30% of the vote, with only one other candidate scoring a double-digit percentage: former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney. Trailing far behind but worthy of note were also former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson and New Jersey Chris Christie, with the loudest potential candidates– Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum, barely receiving mention.

Word on the street is that Keith Olbermann has a fair amount of time on his hands until he begins his new gig at Current TV. Looks like “Keith” took a break from his preparations to give an interview to Breitbart.tv’s Larry O’Connor to discuss his future, mingling with conservatives, and the new version of “Worst Persons.”

The most anticipated political film since the inception of the Tea Party movement is nearing its release, and, just in time for CPAC, the company behind it has released a trailer full of explosions, despicable Washington villains, awkward sexual tension– the kitchen sink of Hollywood advertising gimmicks. With more than on-set interviews to judge Atlas Shrugged: Part I on now, it is abundantly clear that the team behind it went all or nothing on interpreting Ayn Rand‘s classic novel.

Given the contentious relationship between his followers and many in the conservative movement, it’s safe to say that Rep. Ron Paul‘s address to CPAC this year was one of the more anticipated speeches of the political holiday weekend. And Rep. Paul delivered: railing against the “neo-Jacobins” that passed the PATRIOT Act, calling for drastic cuts in military spending, and a passionate repudiation of the Federal Reserve.

Rick Santorum got a little attention by some comments he made explaining reasons why Sarah Palin skipped the CPAC event currently going on in Washington D.C. Mr. Santorum kindly provided some time to Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher who is currently covering CPAC, and the former Pennsylvanian Senator was rather defiant in explaining his original comments, blaming the media for taking his words out of context.

The anti-tax activist Grover Norquist spoke at CPAC today, and told attendees the left is not made up of “friends and allies,” but rather “parasites.”

Norquist argued that those on the left believe the role of government “is taking things from some people and giving it to other people.” The left, he says, is a “dependency movement” where lawyers, labor unions and big city political machines keep people dependent by “making sure none of them get jobs and become Republicans.”

A few months ago, popular conservative blogger Robert Stacy McCain earned the ire of a broad cross-section of the blogosphere (including this commentator) with his assertion that withdrawal of consent was “unadulterated nonsense,” saying, “You buy the ticket, you take the ride.”

The sudden, shocking resignation of Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY) in the midst of an attempted-sex scandal has been the hot topic of conversation in Washington, especially at the Conservative Political Action Conference. On my way out of the conference Thursday afternoon, I spotted former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, so naturally, I wanted to get his reaction to the resignation, however brief.

Things should have been nice and chummy at CPAC an hour ago. Dick Cheney strolled on stage to cheers and the inspirational tune of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” and got began to present the “Defender Of The Constitution” award to Donald Rumsfeld. However, as the chants of “USA! USA!” died down, a voice screaming “War criminal!” could be heard. And then, as Cheney continued to talk up his former colleague, a shouting match began between supporters of Ron Paul and the rest of the convention hall.

Donald Trump is making it to known to any audience that will listen that he is seriously considering running for President. Today at the CPAC convention he gave a crowd-pleasing speech and, given by the audience reaction, it seems like he very well could be an unanticipated force in the Republican primaries.

At today’s CPAC conference, Idaho’s Raul Labrador decided to lighten the mood with a joke or two. They say knowing one’s audience is the mark of a good comedian so, judging from the applause he garnered for his “birther” joke, we think Labrador might have a bright future in improv.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Labrador joked that, yes, he is an American citizen by birth and he even has the birth certificate to prove it. (Insinuated: Unlike some people wink, nudge, cough, somersault.)

As reported by The Caucus, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has invited Donald Trump to speak at their event and in an apparent attempt to fuel speculation of a potential campaign for the presidency, Trump has accepted. Just last night, Trump told CNN‘s Piers Morgan that he was unsatisfied with the potential crop of GOP nominees for 2012 and would announce whether he was running in June.
