Howie Kurtz may think that the media-at-large owes Gov. David Paterson an apology but it looks like Gov. Paterson is currently only interested in directing all his ire at the New York Times. Might that have anything to do with this weekend’s campaign announcement?

On yesterday’s Reliable Sources Howie Kurtz highlighted the “egregious rumor-mongering” that followed Gov. David Paterson around these last two weeks. Cue a montage of website screen shots featuring breathless headlines — including Mediaite — to illustrate his point: the Internet is irresponsible, rumor-infested, and evil! To which we say: Oh please.

The New York Times has published their other Gov. David Paterson ‘bombshell’ article today. So what does this one say. Well it’s not scandalous, but it’s not great. Paterson is remote, unreliable, and is “increasingly reliant on people whom he feels comfortable with but who lack deep experience in government” also he may not actually work that hard.

The collective conscience of the New York City tabloid editorial departments are at work this morning. After news broke yesterday that Tiger Woods would be giving his first press conference (coffee klatch conference?) tomorrow, everyone wants to lock Tiger Woods up!

Well, I guess this is a fitting end to an absurd newscycle. The big New York Times ‘bombshell’ story about David Paterson isn’t actually about David Paterson. Ba dump! It’s about his aid David W. Johnson. Here’s the part the rumor mill did get right: it’s a big story.

It looks like the long-rumored, much-chattered about New York Times ‘bombshell’ story about Gov. David Paterson may end not with a bang but a whimper. The fact the damaging rumors even began in the first place is all Twitter’s fault. Or so say some disgruntled media folks.

It’s entirely possible the now week-long debacle over the rumored but not-yet-seen NYT “bombshell” story about New York Gov. David Paterson may end up being the best thing that ever happened to the Gov. New Yorkers love nothing more than public figures who give as good as they get and Paterson has certainly been doing that this week with a full court press pushback that landed him on Larry King last night. Is the Gov. having a metamorphosis?

Host Larry King asked how the Governor’s blindness has impacted his story. “The fact that you’ve been, not a pun intended, blind to this. Whispers have been building about huge news regarding New York governor David Paterson, who took office after the resignation of Eliot Spitzer. Friday, The Huffington Post noticed the growing media buzz about a forthcoming New York Times scoop, but little other information could be gleaned from the handful of anonymous sources. Now, The Business Insider is reporting exclusively that the news will drop Monday and Governor Paterson’s resignation will follow.

Apparently the New York Times is working on some big shocking story about Gov. David Paterson‘s sex life.
