On a day that has seen a lot of painful (and painfully dull) rehashing of political angst against former Vice President Dick Cheney, pegged to his upcoming autobiography, Ed Schultz’s Cheney panel managed to squeeze out an entertaining wrinkle or two. On Thursday night’s The Ed Show, Ring of Fire host Mike Papantonio struggled to keep Cheney’s villainy on par with Dubya’s, while Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead was suitably disturbed by the idea of Cheney as Bush’s binky.

As it turns out, we weren’t the only ones worrying that Dick Cheney was on the verge of suffering a debilitating heart attack while acting as vice president. He might have resigned, but if you’re talking about politics on television, all roads still lead back to Anthony Weiner. Bill Maher brought up the disgraced ex-politician on his show in an attempt to demonstrate this Weiner’s self-control issues, when compared with those of some other politicians, really aren’t so bad at all. Specifically, Maher had two names in mind – former Vice President Dick Cheney, and New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

Here’s an odd story from Russellville Middle School in Arkansas. There’s a bit of a scandal brewing after it was discovered that this year’s yearbook featured a list of the “Top 5 worst people of all time” that named Adolph Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Charles Manson, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. Yikes.

Dick Cheney‘s new book has a spiffy new cover out, depicting the former vice president looking stately in the White House. That image, from the East Room lighting down to the position of the flag on Cheney’s lapel, has Rachel Maddow feeling a bit of deja vu, and a little bit of outrage, as the picture looks exactly like the image of President Barack Obama announcing that American troops had killed Osama bin Laden.

On Wednesday night’s The Ed Show, host Ed Schultz “went to work” on accusations by “Slant-head(?)” Sean Hannity and Rush “The Drugster” Limbaugh that President Obama is using the killing of Osama bin Laden as a campaign tool. His nightly text poll question, “Would Bush have used bin Laden’s death in campaigns if he was able to get him?”, may have been worded to rub it in a little, but the answer is doubly self-evident: Bush exploited his failure to get bin Laden, and his old team is exploiting bin Laden’s death now.

At one point, President Obama’s claims that his administration would be among the most transparent were met with mockery from his opponents, though with the current national security situation, some are concerned he is fulfilling that promise. On tonight’s Hannity, Liz Cheney expressed hope that the President would scale back on some of the details being released about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

The immediate politicization of the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden has been a fascinating political narrative to track for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that the reactions have not fallen along traditional political lines. Take for example former Vice President Dick Cheney, who has been a pretty vocal critic on Barack Obama‘s handling of the so-called “war on terror.” Today, while appearing on Fox News Sunday, Cheney praised Obama’s decision to send in the Navy SEAL Team 6.

This week, Maddow made good on a promise she had made Meghan McCain to accompany her to an NRA convention, where the ideologically disparate duo found they had more in common over gun control laws than they initially thought.

There was some talk yesterday that we had been incorrect in assigning any sincerity to Rush Limbaugh’s congratulations to President Obama over the death of Osama bin Laden. While he certainly dipped into sarcasm occasionally, we still believe there was at least a bit of genuine gratitude in there. However, whether or not that bit existed yesterday, there was no sign of it today as Limbaugh now claimed Obama owes the country an apology. Why? Well, he kept us from getting Bin Laden sooner, of course.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney joined his former colleague Donald Rumsfeld in proudly declaring the death of Osama bin Laden to be a huge victory for America. Cheney also gave Obama an unqualified congratulations for his handling of the situation and praised the courage and dedication of the military.

In a lively–and at times heated–debate on Tuesday morning’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough questioned whether President Obama–who began his re-election campaign yesterday–has lost the “halo” he wore when he ran for president in 2008, focusing specifically on his campaign vow to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay. “He found Gitmo so repugnant, he vowed to get rid of it in his first day in office,” Scarborough said, noting that has of course not happened.

On Monday’s Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski’s reaction to a David Letterman bit satirizing Dick Cheney drew a bemused reaction from host Joe Scarborough, and angry emails from viewers. The bit featured various clips of Cheney, including an open heart surgery, set to the Mary Tyler Moore theme, and finished with Cheney taking the famous MTM kitten’s place on the iconic vanity card. Brzezinski laughed uproariously, to Scarborough’s disapproval, for almost two minutes, over the course of two segments.

Things should have been nice and chummy at CPAC an hour ago. Dick Cheney strolled on stage to cheers and the inspirational tune of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” and got began to present the “Defender Of The Constitution” award to Donald Rumsfeld. However, as the chants of “USA! USA!” died down, a voice screaming “War criminal!” could be heard. And then, as Cheney continued to talk up his former colleague, a shouting match began between supporters of Ron Paul and the rest of the convention hall.

During this weekend’s celebration of President Ronald Reagan‘s 100th Birthday, former Vice-President Dick Cheney participated in an interview where he was asked whether the Bush administration did enough to control government spending, and he admitted “I think we could have done a better job on spending.”

Here are some more nuggets of goodness from Dick Cheney‘s interview with NBC: The former vice president – an avid hunter – shared that, in the wake of the Tucson, Arizona shooting that left six dead and several, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, critically injured, “maybe it’s appropriate” to limit the size of gun magazines.

Cheney added that he’s always been a “gun advocate,” but he’s willing to listen to views and suggestions regarding gun control.

Add Hillary Clinton to the list of politicians supporting the idea of Republicans and Democrats mixing it up and sitting together at the State of the Union–in a break from the traditional one-party-on-either-side split.

In his first television interview since he underwent heart surgery last summer, former Vice President Dick Cheney says rebounding poll figures haven’t changed his mind on President Obama. In the interview, set to air Tuesday morning on TODAY, Cheney tells NBC News national correspondent Jamie Gangel “I think he’s enacted a program that a great many people are very worried about.”

Stephen Chao was the president of Fox Television for 10 weeks in 1992 before he was fired by Rupert Murdoch for hiring a male model to strip during a speech on Standards and Practices given to Murdoch as well as Dick Cheney. Since then, he’s branched out into all sorts of areas and, apparently, become interested in Reddit. News broke yesterday that Nigeria plans to file bribery charges against officials from several foreign companies, including most notably, former Vice President Dick Cheney, culminating in an arrest warrant being transmitted via Interpol. This was the topic of discussion today on MSNBC’s The Ed Show , with liberal commentator and former Air America host Lionel and Republican strategist Ron Christie , who went at it at level that is rare for even cable news programming.

Well, that’s an unfair stereotype because, last Friday, Mike Malloy proved liberals can do it just as well as a hundred righties by going on a rant which culminated in him directing Liz Cheney to plan her father’s funeral.
