Out of left field, it's Alan Simpson with the best clip you'll see all day. The former Wyoming senator and current co-chairman of President Obama’s deficit commission was on Fox News Monday night, talking about the elderly and Social Security, but he made an epic turn midstream, and ended up on the grandkids and their pop culture. Now don't be fooled by Simpson's age and think he's not fully tapped in to what the kids are listening to. He gets it. Oh, how it gets it. Snoopy Snoopy Poop Dogg. My week is complete.

Here’s the classic quote in its full, magnificent brilliance:

“This is a fakery. If they care at all about their children or grandchildren, and sometimes I doubt that – I think, you know, grandchildren now don’t write a thank-you for the Christmas presents, they’re walking on their pants with the cap on backwards listening to the enema man and Snoopy Snoopy Poop Dogg, and they don’t like them!”

Now watch it–again and again–here, from Fox News:

Anyway — 2010 certainly looks and sounds like a non-stop party here, even though technically Bad Romance was 2009. The mashup clearly belongs to Ke$ha and Katy Perry, the oft-repeated hookiest of the hooky, but you’ll catch all your favorites. Can’t help but notice the absence of Kanye here, too. And Miley, and Taylor. Ah well. Next year.

In the meantime: Let’s go all the way tonight. Tik Tok, don’t stop. Tonight we can go a little longer. I wanna be a billionaire. Let the DJ go to play my favorite song.
“The real reason that I’m here tonight is not to bring you the news, as I do with The Situation Room every night,” the CNN anchor warned the audience. “The real reason that I came here tonight is because I want to learn how to do the Dougie.”

OK! So, did he? Well, not quite. He had trouble perfecting the sinuous movements required of the Dougie, a West Coast dance that shares similarities and a home state with dances like the Jerk and Krump. One source of blame could be the fact that he asked New York rapper Doug E. Fresh to mentor him—the song and its dance comes from Cali Swag District, a young group unassociated with Fresh.

After his awkward writhing, Blitzer accepted an award on behalf of the absent Eminem. Emboldened by his newfound swagger, he went into the audience to diss his CNN colleague Tony Harris: “I have more [Twitter] followers than you.” Snap!

Watch the O.G. Blitzer drop it like it’s hot in the video below.

The Detroit native brought the CNN host around his former neighborhood, and taught him the proper way a person can in fact find a rhyme for “orange.”

Eminem and Cooper walked around the “8 Mile” area of Detroit, including a stop at a club he used to do rap battle in. As can be expected from a show like 60 Minutes, and likely knowing its audience, this is how “rap battles” was explained: “One on one verbal fights where the goal was to come up with the cleverest rhymes and the best insults.”

Eminem brought Cooper into his private recording studio as well, where he explained how to bend words. “People say that the word orange doesn’t rhyme with anything,’ said Eminem. “And that kind of pisses me off because I can think of a lot of things that rhyme with orange.” He proceeded to put this into practice, saying, “I put my orange, four inch, door hinge, in storage, and ate porridge, with George.”

Eminem also showed his very un-Jay-Z-like practice of keeping “hundred of scrapes of papers in which he’s obsessively scrawled down words and phrases,” which he brought out for the cameras. The whole report used Eminem’s comeback concert earlier this year in Detroit as a backdrop, where the artist was performing for the first time sober (which he has been for two-and-a-half years).

Viewers can also see this behind-the-scenes, peel-back-the-curtain extra video on CBSNews.com, where Cooper jokes about how “ridiculous” the forced walking shots in these types of reports are.

Anderson Cooper is not a good rapper. He can’t even find a word that rhymes with “orange.” This the latest from his upcoming 60 Minutes interview with popular early-aughts rapper Eminem, who appears to be staging a comeback of sorts whereby he brags about reading the dictionary and mispronouncing words to fit them into his rhyme scheme.

This last technique is something Cooper refers to as “bending words,” for which Eminem had a classic example of words you can’t rhyme: “orange.” He tells Cooper that it “kind of pisses me off” that people would suggest nothing rhymes with orange, “’cause I can think of a lot of things that rhyme with orange.” For example, he tells Cooper: “I put my orange four-inch door hinge in storage and ate porridge with George.” Quite the narrative.

Cooper asks how much of a time investment Eminem puts into his craft: as someone who was not all that successful in school, why would he sit down and read the dictionary, or spend so much time contemplating words? “I drive myself insane with it,” he responds, and notes that he wants to have “all these words at my disposal” for when he needs them, and has actually become somewhat of an auto-didact in the English department.

The full interview airs Thursday night on CBS, but for now, here’ Eminem teaching Anderson Cooper how to rhyme:

Hot off the Youtubes comes the trailer for “Jersey Shore XXX,” a porn spoof of MTV’s already-self-parodying “Jersey Shore,” and featuring the adventures of characters like “The Predicament.”

I’m too tired to dish out double entendres about stiff competition or how the shoot was hard on the cast, but I do have one observation to make after you watch the nudity-free, but profanity-laced, trailer:

For better or worse, last year’s hot porn topic was politics, in the form of “Nailin’ Paylin.” The film’s star even made it into an Eminem video.

The film didn’t just feature a Sarah Palin lookalike, but a whole cast of DC doppelgangers as well. While not strictly the cinematic equivalent of a position paper, “Nailn’ Paylin” at least showed that the political fever that gripped the nation in 2008 had penetrated every layer of our culture.

“Jersey Shore XXX” could be a bad sign, then, that interest in politics is waning in favor of more pop-y trainwrecks. When you lose the perverts, can the Heartland be far behind?

Micheline Maynard — “Micki” to her friends and Twitter followers — is the Detroit-based senior business correspondent for the New York Times covering autos and aviation, and the author of the just-released The Selling of the American Economy: How Foreign Companies are Remaking the American Dream. If you’re wondering if it’s a good book, consider this: Her last one, The End of Detroit: How the Big Three Lost Their Grip on the American Car Market, was published in 2003 and got pooh-poohed all over the Motor City. Well, we know how THAT one turned out.

Micki may be whip-smart on all things rolling/flying/cratering, but anyone who follows her on Twitter knows that she’s also a huge music fan, Canadian-o-phile (how we got to be buds!), regular on #carchat and foodie, complete with an alternate Twitter feed devoted to deliciousness. She also introduced me to the deliciousness of Whoopie Pies. In addition to her rigorous covering of Detroit’s floundering and fall, Twittering, and foodie-ing, she also blogs regularly at the NYT and seems to never sleep. We took advantage of that, and caught up with her for yet another installment of our 5QQ – Five Quick Questions.

1. How do you get your first news of the day?
Twitter plus headlines via email or text message. I follow story links in tweets and then usually check the www.nytimes.com mobile site. It still amazes me that I can read my stories on a BlackBerry.

2. Either, Or (you gotta pick one!):

Five years ago, you predicted the end of the Big Three and were pooh-poohed. Turns out you were right. Who do you most want to say “told ya so” to, Rick Wagoner or Robert Nardelli?
Sadly, I just wish everybody in the industry had paid attention to what I said in The End of Detroit. I hate being right.

Hybrid or Hummer?
Hybrid (Prius). I’m the author of the Prius Diary on the NYT’s Green, Inc. blog. I made the switch from an SUV a year ago. Except when it snows a lot, I don’t miss it.

Car Chase: Bullitt or French Connection?
Bullitt. Have to pick Steve over Gene in this case (but loved Hoosiers).

Detroit Rock City and Dancing In The Streets…or 8 Mile and The Big Three Killed My Baby?
Detroit Rock City and 8 Mile. (Mix and match :)

Jalopnik or Lutz?
Got to go with Jalopnik.com, since Ray Wert III’s byline has appeared in the Times.

3. What’s the biggest story the media has missed this year? (Or last week):
The biggest story is just how deeply this recession and especially job loss has affected Americans’ behavior. This is our Great Depression even if we don’t get to 25% unemployment, God forbid. I doubt very much that this all ends and things go back to the way we were. We’ve had a big tornado sweep through our lives, and when you go through that, you make decisions afterwards based on what’s really the most important to replace and rebuild.

We are already seeing that in the car business, which I wrote about recently: all kinds of people are asking, “Do I need a car? How many cars does our family need? Can we do Zipcars? Can we get something smaller?” That will fundamentally affect the car business.

4. Obligatory Twitter Question: Describe yourself in 140 characters or
less (hash tag optional!)
Micheline Maynard is an author, New York Times reporter, foodie, music fan, and will look at anyone’s vacation pix.

5. Are you nervous or excited about the future of journalism? Why?
Both. Nervous because we are seeing traditional media turned on its head, and so many friends are so stressed out by it. Excited because the game is always changing and it’s much much more fun because we all have to stay on our toes. Of course, I might be so burned out after the past few years that I am only mistaking this for fun.

Bonus question: Have You Driven A Ford Lately?
Yes, the Ford Focus.
