Yes, twenty-four hours is a lot of time to fill, and examples of infotainment “synergy,” both egregious and less so, are commonplace these days, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. On MSNBC this morning, the news broke that NBC’s The Event is returning Monday night, with a two hour episode! Star Blair Underwood was on hand to give MSNBC viewers the scoop on how he modeled his President Martinez after Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, and others, and claimed that his character doesn’t have any “birther issues.”

On today’s “This Week” roundtable, The Nation editor Katrina Vanden Heuvel invoked the term “tea-bagger,” prompting a disgusted protest from Daily Caller’s Tucker Carlson. Vanden Heuvel’s response was to plow through Carlson’s objections, a strategy which, no doubt, delighted liberals and infuriated conservatives. The term “tea-bagger” has become a gargantuan red herring, almost a “red spermwhale,” if you will.

On Fox News Sunday this morning, anchor Brit Hume dispensed some advice to embattled golfer Tiger Woods that’s sure to touch off a firestorm of controversy, suggesting that Woods would be better off forsaking Buddhism for the more “redemptive” and “forgiving” Christianity.
