Yes, FoxNation.com is asking its readers if the following video is evidence of the end of the world.

The original video appears to have originally emanated from a rather straight news report on Euronews, which was later discovered by WND who breathlessly asked “Has Revelation’s ‘pale rider’ shown up in Egypt?” adding “Riot footage shows mysterious horse-like figure floating through crowd.” This was then picked up by Fox and Friends weekend anchor Clayton Morris, before it was aggregated by FoxNation.com, who included the video with the following explanation:

This is an incredible piece of video. At the 1:20 mark you clearly see some greenish figure moving through the crowd.

Between the crowds of protesters and barricades, the video shows a flowing, pale green image that resembles an erect rider atop a horse in Medieval-like barding. The ethereal figure remains for a few moments before floating over protesters’ heads and off the screen.

Is this the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse?”

This story begs the question: what is FoxNation.com? When it launched in 2009 it was presented as a sort of hybrid news site/forum for users to share thoughts and opinions. But evidence by the following story, the definition of “news” appears to be a loose one at best. The commenters on the page seem to pretty much agree on two things: 1) that the alleged apparition is nothing but a lens reflection, and 2) that “this is amazingly insane… I can’t believe this is on a “news” website” as one commenter writes.

Watch the video below:

Yesterday, Mediaite offered a sneak peek at Fox News’ Griff Jenkins ambushing controversial Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fl) outside his office. The first thing I thought when I saw this was that Grayson’s repeated demands that Jenkins make an appointment constituted some particularly weak sauce. On last night’s O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly and Jenkins called Grayson out for hiding behind his press flack, and I couldn’t agree more.

Alan Grayson became an instant hero to many on the left when he refused to apologize for his “Die quickly” rant on the House floor, mainly because he was the first Democrat ever to refuse any demand for an apology. Since then, he’s done everything he can to earn the name of his new website, CongressmanWithGuts.com, ratcheting up the tough talk along the way. This week, however, he was forced to apologize for a month-old remark that resurfaced. He called a female assistant to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke a “K Street whore.”

Grayson didn’t help his “Congressman with guts” cred any when he basically took on the role of his own receptionist in response to Griff’s questions. Here’s the full O’Reilly segment:

First of all, I don’t know what “rules” Grayson is talking about, unless the First Amendment has some kind of “appointments” clause in it. Griff approached him in the halls of the Capitol, an area that we all pay for. It’s a far cry from, say, tracking someone down while they’re on vacation. If Grayson didn’t want to talk to Griff, he should have had the guts to say so.

As for making an appointment, I can certainly vouch for that strategy going nowhere if your subject doesn’t want to talk to you.

In fact, the whole episode put me in mind of an experience I had at the Democratic National Convention in Denver last year. Much like Griff, I wanted to confront a public figure about statements he had made, but was met with a similarly gutless response:

The fact of the matter is, if you’re doing your job well as a journalist, some people are not going to want to talk to you. If this were not the case, the press would simply be one big PR operation. As Major Garrett pointed out in his radio interview on Tuesday, access is often the price you pay for skepticism.

Having said all of that, Grayson should have been able to handle Jenkins better than this. Perhaps he just blanked, a notion supported by this video footage that we obtained, which shows what Grayson was thinking as Jenkins questioned him:

You’ll see the full ambush on tonight’s O’Reilly Factor, but the Fox Nation members got a preview this afternoon. The post, headlined, “Exclusive! ‘O’Reilly Factor’ Confronts Grayson Over Offensive Remarks“, links to a video preview (you can see it below).

It’s pretty much what you’d expect – “I’m asking you to do what every other reputable news source does, which is to make an appointment,” says Grayson, as well as other variations of that same phrase.

The Fox Nation is full of fair and balanced commenting, as usual.

“irondog” had this to say:

You can just tell fat-boy got his head dunked in Mr. toilet when he was in High School…………………..Peanut says,…..He probably looks at Sarah Palin and touches his chubby.

“California has failed” put it this way:

This guy is just your typical liberal that has mental problems.

Get ready for more ambushing tonight. The Fox Nation can’t wait…

Each week, we stamp our passport in The Fox Nation, checking out the goings on over on the Fox News-run community/opinion site. The storylines may not exactly be unpredictable, but it doesn't make it any less entertaining. What's happening today in the Nation?

Dispatches From <a href="http://www.foxnation.com"target="_blank">Fox Nation:

There are a couple truths over there in the Fox Nation, Fox News’ community/opinion offshoot of Foxnews.com. China and communism are bad. New Yorkers are liberals and part of the problem with this country. Luckily, there has been a story at the top of the site last night and this morning that can cover both bases!

Headlined, “<a href="http://www.thefoxnation.com/china/2009/09/29/empire-state-bldg-turns-red-yellow-celebrate-60th-anniversary-communist-china"target="_blank">Empire State Bldg Turns Red & Yellow to Celebrate 60th Anniv. of Communist China??” the post links to <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090928/ts_alt_afp/lifestyleusnewyorkchina_20090928192215"target="_blank">a short wire story with a similar headline (without the “communist” adjective and the double question marks).

Here’s the key part:

New York’s iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China. The Chinese consul, Peng Keyu, and other officials will take part in the lighting ceremony which will bathe the skyscraper in the colors of the People’s Republic until Thursday, Empire State Building representatives said in a statement.

This is apparently very bad, and really just indicative of the direction Pres. Barack Obama (middle name is Hussein, by the way) is taking this great country of ours. The Empire State Building will be red and yellow?! We might as well just hand the whole damn thing over to China right now…

New York City is diverse, with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_New_York_City#Chinese"target="_blank">more than 600,000+ Chinese residents. And the Empire State Building frequently is lit to honor other countries – there seems to be significant less outrage when it reflects the colors of Ireland or Italy.

The commenters at Fox Nation dismissed the story as a non-issue in the grand scheme of things, with health care, higher taxes and other priorities being the focus of their dismay. Just kidding! Here’s a sampling:

“MHnTX” took the story to its next logical conclusion-

I have never met a statist who wasn’t ultimately a thug supporter… next Independence Day, they will probably want to fly the sickle and hammer above the Red, White and Blue too.

“peterd1958″ went all caps with his theory-

THE NEXT THING THEY GOING TO ANNOUNCE IS THE TALIBAN HISTORY MONTH & THEY WILL COVER THE STATUE OF LIBERTY WITH A BURKA

Well if those events happen, the Fox Nation will surely be there to cover it.
