Uncritical Reporting Wins The Day On Sarkozy’s Alleged Open Mic Story

now video

Reporting on the alleged comments by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Obama over a hot mic has been remarkably uncritical, failing to note the fundamental weakness of the quotes attributed to the two world leaders. On Fox News’ Happening Now, anchor Jon Scott hosted a panel on the remarks that illustrated why journalists should hesitate before amplifying remarks that could inflame diplomatic relations.

Open Mic Allegedly Catches Nicolas Sarkozy Calling Netanyahu A Liar, Obama Commiserating

Picture 1

An open mic left on at the G20 conference last week seems to have caught a some angry remarks from French President Nicolas Sarkozy about Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, French paper Arrêt Sur Images reported today. After speaking, the leaders did not notice reporters could still hear them in headphones, a time during which Sarkozy turned to President Barack Obama and lamented of Netanyahu, “I cannot stand him. He is a liar.”

NMA’s Most Ambitious Video: Tackling Global Economy With USA/China Rap Battle

NMA Rap video

As the G20 summit rolls around, you might be wondering what exactly is going on and what’s at stake. Fortunately, the good people at Taiwan’s NMA News have explained it the only way they know how; with a nearly four-minute rap battle between President Obama (accompanied by his posse, Uncle Sam and Timothy Geithner) and Chinese President Hu Jintao (accompanied by his posse, a couple of dancing pandas).

Canada’s “Officer Bubbles” Takes On YouTube

Office Bubbles

Pity poor Adam Josephs, a constable with Toronto Police Department’s 52 Division, who is suing YouTube for defamation, based on the fallout from a video showing him tersely warning a non-violent anti-G20 protester she would be arrested for assault if the bubbles she was blowing came near him or his fellow officers. Later in the [...]

CNN Covers G20 Protests With What Appears To Be A Cell Phone

cnn_g20

Want to know what Mediaite and CNN have in common? Both outlets filed original reports covering the G20 conference in Toronto today via modern telephonic technology. Of course CNN is a part of a billion dollar conglomerate that can easily afford a local ENG shoot cover the protests in Canada’s largest city. But for some reason, the following video appears to have been filed by Jeanne Meserve via the sort of satellite phone technology usually reserved for the outer reaches of war torn Afghanistan.

Live From The G8! With Mediaite’s On-The-Scene G8 Correspondent, Rachel’s Dad

The sun is shining in the heart of Ontario’s leafy, lake-y Muskoka, the heart of Cottage Country — and international relations as the leaders of the G8 gather to discuss matters of global geopolitical importance and hey, was that just the call of the loon I just heard? While President Obama touches down at the lovely and historic Deerhurst Resort (where the lovely Shania Twain first got her start), no one is better poised to talk about the scene he encounters there among the tree-nestled lakes of Huntsville and the surrounding region — from the back dirt roads to the CF-18s flying over head to the loons on the lake to whether he should be worried about bears — than Mediaite’s G8 Special Correspondent, Dr. Donald Sklar, aka my dad.

CNN Reporter Hit By Tear Gas in Pittsburgh Protests

video

The protests in Pittsburgh by self-described anarchists, coinciding with the G-20 Summit, have led to arrests, violence and this unbelievable but true video.

Today things are calmer, but one reporter was in the line of fire yesterday.

G-20 Protester Arrest Video Not a Hoax

VIDEO

The Drudge Report is currently running a red headline that says “See U.S. Military Snatch Protester…” that links to a YouTube video of what appears to bethe most absurd bit of street theater I’ve seen in awhile. Hot Air has already posted some extensive debunkage, but just watch the video, particularly the driver, who appears to be wearing Skechers:
