TGIF: This Week, God Gave Us The PolitiChicks, Victoria Jackson’s Online Answer To The View

jackson_11.18.11 Video

Victoria Jackson. Everyone’s favorite SNL cast member of all time, yes? Show of hands? Yes? Obviously. And yet, we get so very much Adam Sandler and so very little Victoria Jackson. You may recall that the actress recently paid a visit to lower Manhattan’s Occupy Wall Street protests, and, I don’t know about you, but that really wasn’t enough V-Jack for my liking. Why doesn’t she have her own show? Why isn’t she in constant rotation on every nightly cable news program? When will she come out with a line of giant hair bows? I just don’t know. Fortunately, Jackson gathered together some like-minded, telegenic female friends — Jennie Jones, Jannique Stewart, and Ann-Marie Murrell — and created her own show: PolitiChicks. Just some chicks talkin’ ’bout Muslims, as chicks are wont to do.

Lawrence O’Donnell Shreds Rick Santorum’s Napkin/Paper Towel Gay Marriage Analogy

Picture 3 video

To Rick Santorum, gay and straight marriage are as different as paper towels and napkins, according to an analogy he employed at a campaign stop in Iowa. In his “Rewrite” segment tonight, Lawrence O’Donnell found this comparison to be “the American politician at his worst,” trying to relate to real Americans who probably, like O’Donnell, use napkins and paper towels interchangeably all the time.

Italy’s Silvio Berlusconi: It’s Better To Like Beautiful Young Girls Than To Be Gay

silvio-berlusconi

As you all (hopefully) make your way to the polling booth today, you may find yourself disappointed with the crop of American politicians in front of you. However, to let you know that it could be worse (or at the very least, there’s jerks on every shore), let us present to you the following quote from Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The 74-year-old has gotten in trouble recently after allegedly paying a 17-year-old girl €7,000 after she attended parties at his house. Responding to calls for his resignation, Berlusconi pointed out with a shrug, well, at least he’s not gay. Touche, sir. Touche.

Newsweek Reporter Gets Jail Time In Iran For Gay-Looking Ahmadinejad Picture

A picture of two men in profile with insufficient depth can cost you jail time in Iran. Newsweek reporter Maziar Bahari just received a 13.5-year, 74-lash sentence for his coverage of Iranian protesters being attacked by military officials, and CNN’s Fareed Zakaria was curious about unusual .5 addition to the sentence. He found that it had to do with a photo of Ahmadinejad that appeared on Facebook, in which the president vaguely appears to be kissing another man.

The Gay Teen Hockey Player Blogger Who Wasn’t

mikeyblog

The gay sports blog Outsports has detailed its investigation of the gay teen hockey player blog that drew international attention and a loyal community of followers and concluded the blogger was actually a formerly married man in his 40s who appears to have duped the blog’s teen and adult fans.

Megyn Kelly To Lesbian Soldier: “What Part Of ‘Don’t Tell’ Didn’t She Understand?”

Picture 1 video

Usually, when Megyn Kelly makes an appearance on the O’Reilly Factor, she spends her time raising Bill O’Reillys blood pressure about Ruth Bader Ginsburg or some other theoretical legal issue. Tonight the pair were mostly at peace, agreeing that a soldier kicked out of the military for coming out as a lesbian should have to pay back $80,000 the military provided for her education because, as Kelly put it, “What part of ‘don’t tell’ don’t you understand?”

Brent Bozell: ‘Teabagger’ Is A Gay Slur

Picture 4 video

President Obama’s use of the term “teabagger” in an interview last November has some people up in arms about the lack of civility from the Democrats, not least of which is Sean Hannity. Hannity had the Media Research Center’s Brent Bozell on the program to discuss the offensive nature of the word and the lack of outrage from the media on the issue, and Bozell agreed, noting that if George W. Bush were tossing “gay slurs” around like that, the media would be all over him. Wait a second– gay slur?

‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ Proponents Asked To Defend Stance Before Gay Soldier On CNN

king_2-3 video

Larry King hosted a military panel on his program last night to discuss the possible repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, which would have been a fairly routine discussion save not for the presence of Lt. Dan Choi, who came out as gay on The Rachel Maddow Show almost a year ago and is facing termination from his job despite being a West Point graduate, an Iraq War veteran, and an Arab linguist.

The First Big Twitter War of 2010: Neil Patrick Harris v. John Barrowman

john_neil

It all started so simply. The guys at the blog AfterElton decided to have people vote for gay of the decade and the race soon came down to Neil Patrick Harris and John Barrowman. Then, the celebrity tweeters got involved and now #biggaybattle is one of the hottest trending topic on Twitter. But the battle has had a major victory: Harris and director Kevin Smith are hashing out a two-year old feud via Twitter.

Reflections on Gays in the Media: What We Can Learn From Charles Perez

In a recent interview with Advocate.com, gay ex-TV anchor Charles Perez described his former boss Bill Pohovey (another openly gay man) thusly: “I think he’s a company man. I think if you had to label Bill a gay man or a company man, you would pick company man.” Without knowing anything about Charles Perez or [...]

Gaybama Revisited – You Spoke, I Listened!

To all my dear and queer Chatty Cathy’s out there: Thank you! It’s been great to hear what everyone had to say about my article posted to Mediaite a few days ago: “Obama’s Fiercest Critics: The Gay Online Media.” Now, allow me to clarify where I was coming from.
