The Washington Post offered an interesting little tidbit about Michaele Salahi, the woman best known for 1) crashing the White House’s 2009 State Dinner and 2) being filmed crashing the White House’s 2009 State Dinner on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of DC. According to the paper, Salahi was inspired to pursue a career in pop music by none other than Oprah Winfrey.

I’ll be honest—each month, as we see record numbers at our young sites, I worry. Despite today’s online flurry over rumors that the iconic actor had died, GossipCop spoke with Mr. Cosby’s representative this afternoon to confirm that Mr. Cosby is, in fact, just fine.

RadarOnline reported exclusively today that Chris Cuomo had resigned as co-anchor of Good Morning America, and speculated that he might land as host of NBC’s Dateline. According to GossipCop it turns out that they got this entirely wrong. Cuomo has not resigned from ABC nor GMA. Update – ABC confirms that the rumor is completely untrue.

Reports surfaced today of a very strange lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Dr. Phil McGraw, two producers and another doctor. The lawsuit includes many claims, but most notable are false imprisonment, practicing with out a license and indecent exposure.

I do not hate Perez Hilton. But I hate what Perez Hilton has done to journalism. He routinely reports rumors as if they are real stories without bothering to fact-check them. Consequently, because of his tremendous reach, inaccurate gossip becomes gospel.
