The Huffington Post has really outdone themselves today with their latest Green feature: “Animals Eat Weird Things.” The slide show depicts tigers, butterflies, squirrels, monkeys and bears eating “weird” things like lollipops, sneakers, corn and–gasp–blocks of ice!

I’m not the only one who has noticed The Huffington Post’s march toward trashy headlines, but usually, these are confined to gossip or entertainment items that scream things like “WATCH: Nazareth Man Gets Totally CRUCIFIED!” Now, it seems even HuffPo’s enviro-conscious “Green” section has succumbed to this condition…all in the name of clicks. You got us again HuffPost!

Pamela Anderson Helps Defeat Whale Penis SUV

Thanks to actress Pamela Anderson, among others, overcompensating jillionaires the world over will now be denied the Holy Grail of douchy excess: a giant, armored SUV with an interior crafted in genuine whale penis leather. Russian automaker Dartz has bowed to pressure from Anderson, and other environmentalists, and has pulled the feature from its Pombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition SUV.

Not to worry, though. The pricey ride still comes with plenty of pointless luxury.

Should the Washington Post Have Rejected Sarah Palin’s Op-Ed?

Future former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wrote an op-ed piece for the Washington Post yesterday, in which she roundly dismissed the idea of cap-and-trade. The piece is generating quite a lot of discussion – but agree with her or not, cop to her expertise or not, Palin’s interconnectedness with energy policy is indisputable, making her voice newsworthy.
