Conservative film- and troublemaker James O’Keefe does little to dissuade animosity from the left, though after a series of faux pas has left him adrift as ideological allies question who in their right mind who greenlight wiretapping a Senator’s office or cornering a journalist in what can only be described as a “dildo boat.” To that end, Playboy‘s Jordan Lieberman sought O’Keefe and found a conflicted picture of a passionate activist with a serious judgment problem.

Earlier today, James O’Keefe released a statement in which he expanded upon his initial denial that he planned to sexually humiliate CNN correspondent Abbie Boudreau, a denial that is belied by additional evidence presented in Boudeau’s “Right on the Edge” documentary. In addition to the “CNN Caper” document that outlined the plan, Boudreau also released emails and telephone recordings that corroborated key elements of the plot.

We reached out to Boudreau to see if she had a reaction to O’Keefe’s statement. Her response was brief and to the point:

Since the story of conservative ACORN slayer James O’Keefe‘s attempt to sexually humiliate CNN correspondent Abbie Boudreau broke on Wednesday, ever-more disturbing details have emerged. Saturday night’s airing of Right on the Edge, the Boudreau documentary about which she and O’keefe were supposed to meet, fills in a few more blanks, and reveals just how monumental a screwup this was for O’Keefe.

Considering her tenacious coverage of the subject it’s not surprising that Rachel Maddow jumped all over news that former ACORN employee Juan Carlos Vera, depicted on the infamous and heavily edited tapes talking to James O’Keefe about how to orchestrate their human-trafficking scheme has filed a lawsuit against both O’Keefe and his partner Hanna Giles.

In what seems to have become an annual rite, there’s a new list out counting down the top 20 conservative hotties (new media edition), and while I have great appreciation for conservative new media hotties, and I love Countdown, I’m not a big fan of this effort.

It’s funny because it’s true.

As we reported earlier, Rachel Maddow is rolling out what appears to be a series of segments digging into California Attorney General Jerry Brown‘s report on the unedited James O’Keefe/Hannah Giles ACORN tapes. One of the funnier details in that report is the bit of chitchat at the end, where ACORN receptionist Tresa Kaelke, already hip to O’Keefe’s ruse, tells him he resembles Princess Diana.

A consolation prize for conservatives still sulking about health care reform: a month after announcing that some of its local affiliates were breaking off and renaming themselves in an attempt to escape the organization’s notoriety, ACORN is officially going out of business. Already having done some down-sizing, the group has set an April 1st deadline to shut down all major operations on the national level. And yes, officials say, this is the direct result of last September’s hidden camera scandal.

Love is in the air at Andrew Breitbart satellite blog Big Journalism, where ACORN gumshoe Hannah Giles (the “prostitute” to James O’Keefe‘s “pimp”) is exhibiting some strangely moderate behavior. After a light-hearted crash course in the early life of a future CPAC superstar, Giles explains that she is not alone in being a young journalist out to find the big story, but she wouldn’t mind being a little less lonely at dinnertime. And she’s willing to reach across the aisle to find her Prince Charming. Ezra Klein, sounds like you have some cooking to do.

Hot off the heels of a career-boosting weekend, Andrew Breitbart took to Fox News’ late-night politically incorrect safe space Red Eye to chat with host Greg Gutfeld, giving the public a peek into the polemic’s mind. This Breitbart, however, was not the blisteringly aggressive soldier of truth that strolled the hotel lobby for leftists to publicly humiliate in viral YouTube videos, but a jolly – albeit obstinate – David laughing at how quickly his Goliaths are going down.

As one of the few non-conservatives embedded at this year’s CPAC, I was afforded a point of view vastly different from most outsiders, and I learned some surprising things. First, there was the stealth Rachel Maddow love-fest, and the full-throated jeering of an anti-gay speaker. One other big surprise was the fact that ACORN video auteur James O’Keefe inspired widespread resentment among CPAC insiders.

By now, if you’ve been paying attention to our Conservative Political Action Conference coverage, you’ve likely already watched the video of my impromptu interview with Andrew Breitbart (if not, it’s coming after the jump). It’s the best of many “spirited” Breitbart videos to come out of this year’s CPAC. A display like this might damage the reputation of other public figures, but the Big Journalism creator and his fans have nothing to worry about. Just ask my editor

James O’Keefe has been enjoying his moment in the right-wing spotlight since his undercover prostitution/ACORN videos debuted last week – they’ve gotten major play on Fox News, Drudge and other Web outlets.

Then the young star showed up on Fox & Friends today in a “pimp” outfit and dropped one of the most “ridiculous” lines ever.
