Apparently, Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr, was forced to leave Harvard University before completing his Ph.D because the school had concerns about his personal life. The memo stated that the school’s administrators were “having difficulty with his financial arrangements and couldn’t seem to figure out how many wives he had.”

In March, Senator Scott Brown sent his supporters a fund-raising email that claimed MSNBC star Rachel Maddow was planning a Senate run. Maddow responded by taking out a full-page ad in the Boston Globe to confirm that she wasn’t planning to run, then called Brown a liar on air. Somehow, though, the rumor of Maddow’s candidacy still hasn’t died.

Things aren’t going so well for Eliot Spitzer. His CNN talk show, Parker Spitzer, is tanking; a tell-all documentary about his rise and fall is hitting theaters; and a woman who calls herself the “Manhattan Madam” is gabbing to gossip sites about how boring he is. Now, to add insult to injury, Ken Lovett at the New York Post reports that Spitzer has been rejected from New York City’s branch of the Harvard Club.

Yesterday afternoon, Talking Points Memo ran a story about the White House’s reaction to discussion of an opt-out clause in the Senate’s health care bill. But Harvard’s Nieman Journalism Lab noticed that TPM was taking an unusual amount of criticism for the story’s use of anonymous sources.

This week, the New York Times blog The Choice is hosting the dean of admissions and financial aid at Harvard, William R. Fitzsimmons, who will be fielding questions from the comment section about his elite institution and the admissions process in general. But is the Grey Lady shamelessly pandering to its reader-base — likely wealthy and college-educated, with children approaching high school graduation?
