This Week In Bad Health Care Jokes
This week President Barack Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law. This major health care reform bill was voted against by every Republican member of Congress as it made its way through the Senate and the House of Representatives. History was made, but quality late night jokes were not. Whether you are a Democrat celebrating a step in the right direction or a Republican turning to your favorite late night comedy host for a little comfort and laughter, everybody can cross party lines to agree: this week’s health care jokes just made us sicker.
Eric Massa Describes His Naked Shower Encounter With Rahm Emanuel (Update)
The latest chapter in the Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) surprise departure (‘retirement’) from Congress unfolded yesterday when Massa announced during a radio show that the ethics inquiry into Massa is actually the result of the Democratic Party wanting to get him out of the Health Care vote. Also? Rahm Emanuel once pushed him around naked in a shower. Update: Beck exclusive interview tomorrow!

Much of the day-after health care bill coverage has focused on the GOP Senators (and Joe Lieberman) who intend to stall the bill in the Senate unless the public option is removed. However yesterday on Meet the Press Rachel Maddow took the time to note how the Stupak amendment, which restricts funding for abortion unless it’s the result of rape or incest, might complicate things for President Obama going forward.
HCR Goes To The Senate, Republicans Prepare A Tea Party Welcome?
You’d be forgiven for concluding, after a weekend of celebratory headlines, that Congress’s passing of the Health Care bill on Saturday night was the final step in the long slog that saw many ups and downs this summer. Of course, you’d be wrong. Judging from some GOP reactions, it’s going to be a battle, to say the least.
There Was No Sign Of The Historic Health Care Debate On TV — But, Follow It On Twitter!
Yesterday was an exciting — and momentous — day on the House floor as the Health Care reform legislation was furiously debated. But you wouldn’t know it by much of last night’s television programming. On Twitter though — just like the debate in the House — it went on into the night, serving as a bastion of discussion, dissent and celebration.
