Sex Sells, But Which One? Marketing To Straight Males Can Only Go So Far

Picture 3 video

If you’re not a particularly big fan of Project Runway, you probably skipped out on Piers Morgan last night, whose ads spent the day reminding viewers he would be interviewing Heidi Klum. If you’re not particularly a fan of Project Runway and also a fan of 1980s New Romanticism, you would have been sorely disappointed, as the second half of the program featured and interview with 3/4ths of Duran Duran. As far as influence and conversational potential, the decision to advertise one over the other appears bizarre, but with the obvious difference between the two guests, one has to ask– is eye candy not all created equal?

In its continued bid to take over the world (or, at least, to give you things to read while you should be working on expense reports), Aol is trying out a new tactic: Hiring supermodels. The company has tapped Heidi Klum to act as a very expensive content partner. As part of the deal, Klum will offer advice on coverage and will provide video content on everything from love and relationships to parenting to fashion and beauty. Aol won’t comment on the particulars, but the partnership is reported to set the company back a cool million, in addition to the 50 percent in ad revenue Klum will receive from the venture.

Seal Calls Project Runway‘s Tim Gunn “Heidi’s Other Husband”

Could they really “make it work?” In an interview with PARADE magazine, Project Runway star Tim Gunn says he’s sometimes called “Heidi’s other husband.” You know, like TV husband. They couldn’t really, you know, be a couple couple since, well, Heidi Klum‘s already married. To Seal. The guy who apparently calls Gunn the “other husband.”

SNL Imagines Parker/Spitzer With Twice The Disgraced Former NY Governors

Hard to believe, but there is a name for a talk show that’s more ungainly and unimaginative than “Parker/Spitzer.” In a sketch that played on the recent rumors of strife surrounded the poorly rated CNN show, SNL aired a segment depicting Eliot Spitzer‘s hypothetical search for a new co-anchor: “Parker/Amanpour,” “Parker/Klum” and “Parker/Paterson” are all tested as possible candidates.

Mediaite Presents: 20 Killer Costumes — A Halloween 2009 Retrospective

Mediaite has combed celebrity sites, media soirees, and the viral web to assemble some of our favorite costumes of Halloween ’09. In our travels, we’ve come across Heidi Klum dressed as a raven, Nick Douglas dressed as PostSecret, Jon Gosselin dressed as a shallow celebrity tabloid cover (!), and much, much more:
