Robert Gibbs – White House press secretary, Fox News guest, iPhone pitchman?

The White House <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-video/video/now-theres-app-white-house"target="_blank">is touting its brand new iPhone app, and Gibbs plays the Luke Wilson role in a commercial of sorts for the product.

“You can read the blog, watch videos, check out the latest photos and you can even get live video on your phone,” says Gibbs in the ‘ad’. “In fact, if you want to see me set the White House press corp. straight every day live, now there’s an app for that.”

And so on. Also teased at the end of the video is “mobile.whitehouse.gov” which is apparently “coming soon.”

With Apple in the news in a big way right now, and <a href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/01/24/rumor_apple_could_announce_end_of_att_iphone_exclusivity_wed_.html"target="_blank">rumors the iPhone may expand to Verizon service as well this week, the ad/promo is certainly timely. But as for the tech side the story, it’s best to just go to our new site, <a href="http://www.geekosystem.com"target="_blank">Geekosystem.com.

Say what you want about this White House (and you likely will, in the comments), but they certainly are the most tech savvy. The app looks like a useful tool for those who are interested.

The promo for the app? Well take a look and decide for yourself:
The Extraordinaries is an interesting new concept in the growing field of iPhone applications — it allows people to use the every part of their spare time cow (waiting for a movie to start, riding a bus, waiting in line) to do small bits of volunteering using the Extraordinaries iPhone app.

Now it can officially be said: iPhone’s will change the world! At least that the hope of the makers of The Extraordinaries iPhone application which allows its users to volunteer their spare time through “micro-actions.” Examples include tagging photos for the Smithsonian or other museums, mapping incidents of big cat abuse, or mapping playspaces for Kaboom! The San Diego Voice investigative news website is asking people to use the app to record location and photos of city agencies and buildings wasting water during the current drought period.
