Bill O’Reilly introduced his first guest of tonight’s show emphasizing the bizarre position she now found herself in: “does it make you queasy that you are now in agreement with some on the far left about Afghanistan?” Naturally, when put that way, Ann Coulter was spooked, though “even a broken clock is right twice a day,” and argued that Democrats now wanted to stay in Afghanistan only because it “is not in America’s national security interest.”

In a discussion of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his suggestions at a NATO meeting in Brussels that America’s European allies should be sharing more of the risks and costs of of conflicts–or the U.S. might one day decide the burden-sharing arrangement was no longer in American interests–Fox News anchor Shepard Smith vented about the extraordinary number of commitments U.S. forces are already engaged in. “We’ve got Afghanistan, which seems to be war without end. We’ve got Iraq, which is clearly war without end. We have our third “not war” now in Libya, and we have our fourth not even yet war in Syria, yet we’re there,” Smith said, asking “isn’t there a time when you say ‘enough already, fight your own fight?’”

Presidential candidates, as a rule, hate being corrected by lowly reporters. Just ask Tim Pawlenty. Meeting with reporters on the trail, Pawlenty was asked about U.S. policy towards Iran, but seemed to be referring to Iraq in his response, “I think the situation now in Iran is such that Secretary Gates is negotiating with whether the United States Military will be there beyond the end of this year. And they’re looking to the Iranians to see if they invite the Americans to stay, invite us to stay.” The extended answer was interrupted by a reporter who said “you mean Iraq, not Iran.”

And naturally, it was caught on tape and distributed, Politico’s Ben Smith says, by “the new Democratic group American Bridge.”

On Thursday night’s The Last Word, host Lawrence O’Donnell conducted an intense interview with former Secretary of State  Condoleezza Rice, challenging her on what many consider the Bush administration’s detour into Iraq, away from the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Rice was among the Bush administration officials who tried to establish a link between bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, a link they later backed away from.

Glenn Beck, echoing recent talking points brought up by potential Republican candidate Donald Trump during his two-part interview with Fox New’s Bill O’Reilly, is asking why the U.S. failed to get our hands on enough Iraqi oil to repay us for our military efforts in that country, and whether we’re repeating ourselves now where Libya is concerned.

Bill O’Reilly just wrapped up a two-night interview with potential presidential candidate and future Fox News star Donald Trump. Today on the upcoming home of Trump, Fox & Friends, O’Reilly gave his thoughts on what Trump had to say and he had a fairly harsh critique of Trump’s plan for Iraq, saying, “if you actually did what he’s proposing, the world outcry would be unbelievable.”

In the final installment of his interview series with Bill O’Reilly the real estate magnate turned reality TV star turned 2012 hopeful pulled no punches on the President’s foreign policy in the Middle East, calling the perception of Obama as a non-interventionist erroneous given that “every time I look he’s going into another country.”

Republican Congressman Ron Paul appeared with Judge Napolitano last night on Fox Business in order to continue his crusade against the Federal Reserve. In addition, Paul provided a unique perspective on international affairs declaring “we’re not successful in Iraq or Afghanistan, as far as I’m concerned” and expressed shock at the suggestion of using the military in any capacity to help in Libya.

A star-studded cast is starring in a revival of Jason Miller’s 1972 play That Championship Season on Broadway this spring. While the play is of a personal nature that the cast and crew hopes will resonate with a modern audience, it’s especially familiar for actor Jason Patric, who is both a star of the show and Miller’s son. Earlier this week, the star-studded ensemble discussed the play at the Times Center.

Sean Hannity is really not having any of this price increase in crude oil coming from the powers-that-be at OPEC. Particularly incensed at Kuwait, the Fox News host criticized that nation’s oil minister Friday night for “lecturing us” and suggested that the United States “has every right to go in there and, frankly, take all their oil.”

ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff, who suffered a traumatic brain injury on assignment in Iraq five years ago, is offering his unique perspective to the family of Gabrielle Giffords. “There is hope,” Woodruff writes in a “Reporter’s Notebook” piece on the ABC News website.

Woodruff, who’d just been named a co-anchor of ABC’s World News, was severely injured by the explosion of an IED.

ABC News is reporting that Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta of Iowa has become the first living recipient of the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. Giunta is being recognized for his valor in the wars in both Afghanistan and Iraq; President Obama just presented him with the award at a White House ceremony. Giunta is just 25 years old.

In the Daily Beast this morning, contributor Reza Aslan has a piece examining the troubling situation of Christian Iraqis — and charges that he says Hillary Clinton is aware of the situation but unwilling to take action to stop it. Aslan charges that “A full-scale genocide is under way in Iraq: a well-planned, well-financed, deliberate plot to cleanse the country of its Christian citizens,” and that both the US and Iraqi governments refuse to do anything about it.

On the heels of that Bill O’Reilly-fueled View walk-off by Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, in which O’Reilly exclaimed repeatedly that “Muslims killed us on 9/11,” MSNBC’s fiery Dylan Ratigan tried to provide some clarity to the discussion on Morning Joe. Ratigan pointed out that the attacks on the United States, from the USS Cole to the two World Trade Center attacks, were the work of a single extremist sect of Islam. The inconvenient part of that truth is that the Wahabbi branch of Islam is based in, and funded by, Saudi Arabia, not Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Yemen.

Promoting his new book, Obama’s War, author Bob Woodward sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer to expand on the stories in his book– namely those on the President’s frustration with the rigidity of the military in Iraq and Afghanistan and the internal struggles of the White House as the President did his best to push for an end to military expansion without defying the expertise of his generals.

Katie Couric opted to go easy on Tony Blair at the beginning of “Tony Blair in Conversation with Katie Couric” at the 92nd Street Y, easing him into the more hard-hitting questions about foreign affairs in the Middle East and Europe. Blair responded to questions about his reflections, writing process, and intentions for his new autobiography. He revealed that he wanted the book to be more “personal” than others in the genre that he admits he’s found “easy to put down.”

On Today last week, NBC’s Richard Engel argued that, before the US invasion of Iraq, leader Saddam Hussein was on the road to “moderation,” and that his relationships with Eastern Europe, especially, were improving. Needless to say, on Thursday’s O’Reilly Factor, Laura Ingraham and Greg Gutfeld had a field day with the idea that Hussein was a moderate.

Fox and Friends Gretchen Carlson interviewed Press Sec. Robert Gibbs earlier this morning ahead of President Obama’s speech on Iraq tonight, and whoah. Things got contentious pretty quickly.

Yesterday the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee released over 1,000 pages of declassified committee transcripts from 1968 in which committee members, frustrated with the seemingly endless Vietnam War and increasingly suspicious of the circumstances under which they voted to allow an escalation of that war, vented and debated launching a potentially damning investigation into the Gulf of Tonkin Incident.
