James Carville: Rick Perry Is The Worst Presidential Candidate In American History
Rick Perry‘s devastating fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucus, despite his early buzz and spending the most money in the state prompted CNN political commentator James Carville to call his campaign the worst in American history. “Rick Perry is the worst presidential campaign, candidate in American history,” Carville boldly declared, spurring loud disagreement with his fellow panelists.
Erin Burnett On Libya Gaffe: Herman Cain Is So Tired ‘He’s Not Able To Function Anymore’
Herman Cain‘s complete mind lapse on Libya today seems to have raised more eyebrows than even his sexual harassment scandal, but at least one news anchor is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. On her program today, Erin Burnett offered that she, for one, did not believe he knew nothing about Libya, but that “his mind is so busy with what’s going on and he’s so exhausted…that he’s not able to function anymore.
James Carville: Rick Perry Is ‘In Over His Head’ And ‘Incapable Of Running For President’
Democratic strategist James Carville appeared on Good Morning America this morning to assess the current crop of front runners in the GOP presidential field and was not shy in his both predictable and entertainingly harsh criticism of his ideological foes. Herman Cain and Mitt Romney were both targeted, but it was Texas Governor Rick Perry, who has seen a rather enormous dip in recent polls, that received the most merciless review.
James Carville Lauds President Obama For Firing ‘His Old Negotiating Philosophy’
Democratic strategist James Carville is feeling better about President Obama‘s economic strategy after yesterday’s speech. Last week he penned a none-to-subtle op-ed for CNN suggesting that the President do two things: fire all his economic advisors and panic. So far as we know, Obama hasn’t fired everyone just yet, but joining Good Morning America‘s George Stephanpoulous today, Carville sounded pleased with the steps the president has taken, saying, “I think he fired his old negotiating philosophy which was a pretty good start.”
Bill Clinton: ‘Right Now [Obama's] Just Out There Running Against Himself And People’s Misery’
Former president Bill Clinton argued on Face the Nation today that President Obama has, in essence, made himself his primary opponent leading up to the 2012 presidential election, and emphasized the role of compromise in contemporary politics. Host Bob Schieffer asked Clinton if he agreed with James Carville (a former Clinton advisor) in saying that now is the time for President Obama’s team to panic and shake up their entire reelection strategy.
James Carville: Who Cares If People Like Dems More Than GOP If We Keep Losing Elections?
Earlier today, we told you about Democratic strategist James Carville‘s CNN.com op-ed piece, which offered some characteristically blunt advice for the President: “Panic!” CNN’s John King aptly described Carville’s advice as “the political version of a family intervention.” Carville explained that dire times call for more drastic measures, opining that it is high time the White House demonstrates to the American people that it “gets it” by supplying “something different” — like, for example, holding people accountable.
James Carville Has A Word Of Advice For Obama: ‘Panic!’
Democratic strategist and CNN contributor James Carville has penned an op-ed piece offering a simple bit of advice for our Commander-in-Chief: “Panic.” Specifically an organized sort of panicking that requires multiple, specific steps.
“We are far past sending out talking points,” write Carville. “Do not attempt to dumb it down. We cannot stand any more explanations. Have you talked to any Democratic senators lately? I have. It’s pretty damn clear they are not happy campers.”
James Carville: Rep. Weiner Wasn’t Popular In Congress Before And Now Pelosi Is ‘Furious’
Former President Bill Clinton’s advisor James Carville appeared with George Stephanopoulos to discuss the question of whether Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner could survive this scandal. Although many would argue Clinton’s controversy was much worse and he survived, Carville hinted at what ultimately might be the major difference between the two men: Weiner doesn’t seem to be particularly liked by elected Democrats.
James Carville: If Sarah Palin Doesn’t Like Answering Questions ‘Then Stay In Alaska’
Democratic strategist James Carville spoke with Don Imus this morning about the Republican field of presidential candidates. While Imus joked he had a better chance of being President than Rick Santorum or Newt Gingrich, Carville was more interested in sharing his thoughts on Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin.
James Carville: Trump Got Out When He Realized ‘He Was Making A Fool Of Himself’
Democratic political strategist James Carville stopped by GMA this morning and told George Stephanopoulos that he found it amazing Arnold Schwarzenegger would have entered politics and subjected himself to the scrutiny knowing he had fathered a love child. Moving from “tragedy to comedy,” Carville then addressed Donald Trump.
James Carville Can’t Wait For The 2012 Campaign: “Get These Guys Out On The Road!”
Many in the political media sphere are looking out in the distance at the 2012 elections with some level of ironic revulsion. The 2010 midterm elections fresh in mind and the 2008 presidential election being one of the longest campaign seasons in history, many are simply not ready for that level of intensity quite yet. And then there’s James Carville, who was nearly jumping out of his seat on CNN today at the prospect of Republican presidential candidates hitting the campaign trail– in Februrary 2011.
Bill Maher: Lack Of Government Health Care Leads To Crazy People Buying Guns
Like most of the media this week, Bill Maher and his Real Time panel last night spent a great deal of time trying to explain the reasons why the Arizona shootings last week occurred. And while it was clear that Jared Loughner committed the acts because of mental problems, the question was why people like him turn to violence in the first place. One suggestion Maher put on the table: America’s lack of universal health care.
James Carville Un-Apologizes For Crude Obama Joke Yet Again, Isn’t Going To Rehab
A few days ago, James Carville resuscitated a 2008 campaign joke about the respective number of testicles President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton possess. This joke was about as well-received as it was in 2008 (not at all), and Carville visited John King USA to explain just how much he didn’t regret it. This apparently wasn’t enough, however, as he took his case to Anderson Cooper last night, as well, and was just as unapologetic.
James Carville Isn’t Sorry He Joked President Obama Is Missing A ‘Ball’
It was clear who James Carville supported during the 2008 Democratic primary, squarely for Sen. Hillary Clinton over Sen. Barack Obama.
So how much has changed? After telling an old campaign joke, Carville went on CNN to reiterate “I’m not sorry and I don’t apologize.”
Klein: “If James Carville And Mary Matalin Can Be Married Then Jon Klein And Roger Ailes Can Be Friends”
Another thing I talked about with former CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein yesterday was his reaction to a very positive quote from Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.
It was particularly interesting as Ailes’ network and Klein himself have had quite a rocky relationship – at least until Klein officially was no longer at the helm of fellow cable news outlet CNN.
Dems Using Sarah Palin’s Recent ‘$800,000 Haul’ As Scare Tactic To Raise Money
As much as the Dems like to scoff (one might even say ‘refudiate’) at the idea of Sarah Palin as a serious political force that must be reckoned with, they apparently take her seriously enough to use her as way to motivate Dems to donate.
Bill O’Reilly Names James Carville Today’s Patriot For Opposing Drilling Moratorium
Talk about strange bedfellows: When today’s O’Reilly Factor “Pinheads and Patriots” promo showcased James Carville and Jude Law, it seemed pretty obvious, based on previous experience, who would win which award– the mystery of Jude Law’s appearance notwithstanding. But tonight, Bill O’Reilly threw us a curveball, giving the colorful Carville the “Patriot” award for “his candor and looking out for the folks of the Gulf Coast.”
James Carville Blasts White House Again, This Time On Off-Shore Drilling Moratorium
Well James Carville is at it again – blasting the Obama administration for policies that he feels “are killing the economy” in the Gulf Coast. The Louisiana native and Democratic strategist who worked closely with the Clinton administration has not demurred in his criticisms of how the current White House has handled the BP Oil Disaster.
James Carville: Democratic Strategy To Keep The House? ‘Father, Son And Holy Ghost’
This past weekend on Meet the Press, WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs “stated the obvious” when he claimed that there “are enough seats in play” for the GOP to take the House this November. This, in turn, lead to House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi to reportedly call Gibbs “political inept” for the untoward remark. This story came up on Good Morning America, and Democratic strategist James Carville revealed that the Dems may need to rely on a higher authority to maintain a majority in the house.
Fed. Judge Blocks Obama’s Moratorium On Off-Shore Drilling
New Orleans Federal Judge Martin Feldman just lifted the controversial six-month ban on offshore drilling imposed by the Obama administration following the BP spill in the Gulf. The residents of the embattled Gulf will likely be happy to hear this — many in the Gulf region from Gov. Bobby Jindal to James Carville have argued that the ban imposes unnecessary hardship on an economy that is already suffering due to lost revenue from the spill.
James Carville: Obama Needs To Lift Drilling Moratorium ASAP
As much as any public figure Democratic strategist James Carville can probably take credit for leading the charge against the Obama administration’s apparent lack of action in the first weeks of the BP oil spill. Carville told GMA‘s George Stephanopoulos this morning that he thinks Obama’s address from the Oval Office tomorrow night (his first) is a chance for him to “hit the reset button.”
James Carville Slams Colleague Fareed Zakaria: “Wanted To Hit Him With A Football Bat”
CNN contributor and Democratic strategist James Carville has been an extremely outspoken critic of Pres. Barack Obama and the administration in the wake of the BP oil spill.
But now he’s bashing defenders of Pres. Obama too – even if its his CNN colleague, Fareed Zakaria.
Dennis Miller Wonders Why President Obama Isn’t Being Blamed More For Oil Spill Damage
If last night’s “Miller Time” segment on the O’Reilly Factor proved anything, it’s that the current news cycle is finely tuned to bring out the best in Dennis Miller‘s sense of humor. He went one-on-one with Bill O’Reilly on a number of topics– the oil spill, the Joe Sestak job scandal, Sarah Palin‘s new neighbors– and not only managed to take a pretty hilarious stab at James Cameron, he got O’Reilly to use his best Cajun accent, too.
Robert Gibbs Doesn’t Think Angry James Carville ‘Understands All The Facts’ On Oil Spill
Former Democratic strategist and CNN analyst James Carville has been making a lot of noise against the White House for not getting the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico– near Carville’s Louisiana home– under control for the past couple of weeks, but until now has not been referenced by the White House directly. Now, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has responded, saying that he doesn’t “understand all of what we’re doing.”
Chris Matthews Blasts Obama: “The Gulf Of Mexico Is More Important Than A Presidency”
Perhaps Chris Matthews started worrying he was being outshined in the tirade department by James Carville. Just ahead of President Obama’s press conference earlier today Matthews went on his own rant about how the Louisiana coast line is “part of our birthright, with the Grand Canyon, with Niagara Falls, with Yosemite.” And then he directed this zinger at Obama.
