Mediaite’s former Senior Editor Steve Krakauer‘s inevitable rise to global media dominace continued today, with news of his promotion to Senior Digital Producer at CNN. He will now oversee all digital producers at CNN, who primarily manage the show’s social media and online footprint, in particular, the show’s Twitter feeds. Krakauer left Mediaite roughly a year ago to helm the digital side of Piers Morgan Tonight, which launched last January and has enjoyed critical raves and impressive ratings, in no small part due to an aggressive Twitter presence.

Jonathan Wald is returning to the TV news business after nearly two years on the outside, remaining active in the media as a consultant, a journalism professor at Columbia University and on Twitter.

We talked to the new Executive Producer of CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight about what viewers can expect, his former home CNBC – but not Parker Spitzer which he refused to comment on.

Piers Morgan Tonight, the program that will replace Larry King Live in January 2011, began to take shape this morning, when CNN announced that TV vet Jonathan Wald will serve as Morgan’s executive producer.

CNBC anchor Dennis Kneale‘s contract is up soon with the business network, and he’s found an odd way to make a pitch to stay around Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

He’s gone public about the contract status, taking a shot at execs in the process, in a Business Insider profile sure to ruffle what are likely the last feathers of his stay at the network.
