Right-Wing Media Watchdog Compiles Thin ‘Bias Dossier’ on New WH Press Secretary
The recent appointment of former Time magazine reporter Jay Carney as White House Press Secretary has already spawned an effort to discredit Carney, and his former colleagues, by right-wing media watchdog Newsbusters. The right’s answer to Media Matters has released what it calls a “Media Bias Dossier” on Carney, but at eight quotes in a twenty-year career, it’s pretty thin gruel. It might also surprise Newsbusters to know that libeeral watchdog Media Matters has an even thicker “dossier” on Carney, and that Redstate’s Erick Erickson is among Carney’s biggest fans.
Jon Stewart Torches CNN and Redstate’s Erick Erickson
Daily Show host Jon Stewart lit into both Erikc Erickson and CNN last night, highlighting a Reliable Sources segment in which Howard Kurtz grilled the Redstate chief about some rhetorical skeletons in his closet. While Stewart’s real criticism was of CNN for acting shocked at Erick being Erick, it’s also a pretty good bet that Erickson wouldn’t mind if his “Greatest Hits” could just stay in the vault from now on.
Stephen Colbert and WH Official to RedState’s Erick Erickson: You Lie!
On the heels of Erick Erickson‘s Colbert Report appearance, in which he alleged that White House Director of Communications for Health Care Linda Douglass had referred to opponents of reform as “brownshirts,” the conservative fundit did a little bit of ex post facto-checking last night. Apparently, Colbert somehow came to doubt Erickson’s account (you’re welcome, Stephen. Again.) Douglass appeared on the show last night, but was it to nail, or be nailed?
Redstate’s Erick Erickson Gives As Good As He Gets With Stephen Colbert
When I heard that Redstate Chief Editor Erick Erickson was going to be on The Colbert Report (4 minutes before the show), I tuned in expecting to see copious nailage. The mixture of master satirist Stephen Colbert and hard-right loose cannon Erickson is a match made in nail heaven.
The outcome wasn’t what I expected, and at one point, I even found myself in agreement with the face of conservatism’s Markos Moulitsas.
Dear Hollywood, If You Want to Help Roman Polanski Then Please Shut Up
Dear Hollywood,
Since Roman Polanski was arrested Saturday night in Switzerland for fleeing the U.S. after pleading guilty in 1977 to unlawful sexual intercourse (a plea deal for a rape accusation), you’ve been speaking out in droves to defend the director. CNN describes it as “Hollywood Embraces Polanski“, Fox News calls it “Hollywood Left Bands Together to Fight Polanski Arrest“.
Here’s a tip: stop.
