Shortly after I posted about my disappointment regarding Stephen Colbert‘s interview with Gloria Steinem last night, Katie Couric‘s online show @katiecouric when live with this lengthy interview she’d just completed with Steinem. Ask and you shall receive! Here’s what Steinem had to say about Sarah Palin‘s recent declaration that she is a feminist:

The teen hip-pop star sat down for an interview with CBS’ Katie Couric for her in-depth @KatieCouric web show, and the audience of likely non-Bieber fans learned why they should be (or confirmed why they aren’t).

Is this emerging as the new party line on Palin among other top Republican politicians? Last week, Haley Barbour told Chris Matthews that Palin is “a lot brighter than she gets credit for,” and on yesterday’s @katiecouric, Fox News Channel host and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee trotted out a similar-sounding soundbite:

Where do you’ve go after you just interviewed Glenn Beck? How about to the founder and funder of The Daily Beast.

Mediaite has confirmed the next interview on Katie Couric‘s lengthy weekly web show “@katiecouric” will be with Barry Diller and Tina Brown. Besides the new web show, Couric (and an exec at CBS News) are adding even more responsibilities.

If a 30-second clip can bring about such major attention, imagine what a 44-minute show will do.

The first episode of @katiecouric debuted last night on CBSNews.com with an enlightening, wide-ranging interview with Fox News host and media star of the moment, Glenn Beck. It left both looking better than before.

Word has gotten out that on tonight’s episode of “@katiecouric”, Katie Couric’s new web-only show, Glenn Beck will declare that “McCain would have been worse than Obama.” But before the show has even aired, the media narrative has emerged that this is some kind of cunning, headline-grabbing ploy by Beck, who has done pretty well in that department already. It’s a catchy angle, but here’s the thing; if you go back and look at what he’s said, Beck has never really liked John McCain.

In a New York Times story today about CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, she and her bosses quiet critics about whether she’ll be exiting her current role any time soon. “She says she will remain there until her contract expires in 2011,” writes Brian Stelter.

But the bigger story is her next show – an hour-long Web program, debuting tomorrow with the biggest media star of the moment: Glenn Beck.
