And, now, the internet, in all its infinite wisdom, has deemed it fit to bestow upon a meme-starved populace a new gem — a video of Barack Obama singing (kind of) to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Because, you know. Why not?

Happy New Year! Watch as the throngs of revelers fill to the brim in the heart of Times Square. A million people are expected to watch the ball drop as the clock strikes midnight and January 1st, 2012 begins.

Yesterday, the FCC and FEMA performed a monumental and basically without precedent test of a nation-wide Emergency Alert System. At the same time, every television and radio station in the entire country was supposed to feature a test of the system for 30 seconds. Instead, some saw it the graphic for four minutes, some saw nothing, and some saw…Lady Gaga music?

Pawlenty (or “T-Paw,” if you’re so inclined) opened up about his admiration for the singer’s talent after asking a trio of reporters in Ames, Iowa about their favorite Lady Gaga songs.

While the Eurovision stars were thrilled about meeting and performing for the leader of the free world on President Obama’s trip to the British Isles this week, they made it very clear– on paper and spoken word– that they’re only using him as a stepping stone towards meeting the actual most important citizen of the United States: Britney Spears.

Bill O’Reilly has a well-recognized soft spot for bizarre pop thingamajig Lady Gaga, having invited her onto the program before and even told her she could BYOB the event. Tonight, he went as far as to call the derivative American icon a “Patriot” for eating a cue card on David Letterman‘s program.

When Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake do musical parody, expectations are ridiculously high. Dick in a Box and Mother Lover are previous SNL shorts that were huge viral hits. So, how do they deal with the high expectations that typically kill a good joke? How about adding Lady Gaga for another parody of early 90′s smooth R&B-cum-Color Me Badd song satire.

Yes, Lady Gaga is riding high on her HBO special and is currently the hottest act in the music scene. But for those who may not remember the early aughts, Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that tonight’s first sketch on Saturday Night Live that featured both Gaga and Timberlake was remarkably entertaining. Having Kristen Wiig play the Tea Bagger character didn’t hurt.

This morning, MTV announced an upcoming documentary on the life of Lady Gaga and, in particular, how Stefani Germanotta, the girl from New York, became the “fame monster” we see today (who, by the way, just took on the #1 spot on Forbes’ annual “Celebrity 100″ list). A few clips from from the documentary, to be called Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside, have been released and one is particularly striking. In it, Gaga tells a story of an instance of bullying from her youth and relates how it helped make her who she is now.

Lady Gaga‘s new song Judas has predictably upset a number of Christian groups, who seem “unhappy about how much disrespect is being shown towards the Christian faith.” This was the news peg to a panel discussion last night led by Sean Hannity, in a segment entitled “War on Easter,” conveniently airing on Maundy Thursday (the day in which Christians observe the Last Supper of Jesus Christ in which Judas is revealed to be…well, Judas.) Product placement?

On America Live this afternoon, interim host Martha MacCallum discussed what she referred to as Lady Gaga’s “latest stop on the blasphemy train:” Basically, the singer chose Holy Week – as in, the single holiest week for many Christians – to release a song ostensibly about her love for Judas, the apostle who turned Jesus over to authorities to eventually be crucified.
