And, now, the internet, in all its infinite wisdom, has deemed it fit to bestow upon a meme-starved populace a new gem — a video of Barack Obama singing (kind of) to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Because, you know. Why not?

Wait, What? Failed Emergency Alert Test Just Played Lady Gaga Songs In Some Areas

Gaga

Yesterday, the FCC and FEMA performed a monumental and basically without precedent test of a nation-wide Emergency Alert System. At the same time, every television and radio station in the entire country was supposed to feature a test of the system for 30 seconds. Instead, some saw it the graphic for four minutes, some saw nothing, and some saw…Lady Gaga music?

Well, I think we can call that a fail.

Wall Street Journal Debuts ‘What Percent Are You?’ Toy

99%

With all the talk of the 99%, the 53%, 47%, and 1%, does anyone know where they fall, exactly?
In a fun, yet informative, little time-waster, we give you The Wall Street Journal’s “What Percent Are You?” tool. Enter your household income, hit the “Rank Me” button, and see where you end up. It’s simple, it’s kind of hokey, and it probably has some flaws that critics on both sides will certainly bring up. But it’s got its charms.

Lawrence O’Donnell Chides Bill Clinton And Lady Gaga For Inappropriate Birthday Flirting

Picture-216-316x237 video

Over the weekend, former President Bill Clinton had a several-month late birthday bash in Hollywood, lasting two nights and capped off with a seductive performance by Lady Gaga, who performed a special version of “Bad Romance” and giddily called her performance a “Marilyn moment.” Given that ostentatious displays of power and wealth are public enemy #1 on The Last Word, Lawrence O’Donnell‘s cringing reaction to the affair (no pun intended) should not have come as a surprise, but it was still fairly hard-hitting from one liberal to another.

Lady Gaga Opens MTV Video Music Awards As Jo Calderone

gagag video

Expectations could not have been higher for Lady Gaga’s opening performance. After all, this is a woman who routinely shows up to awards shows covered in meat or ensconced in an egg. Say what you will about her, but no two Gaga performances are alike, and this one promised to be a spectacle.

Turns out that Bill O’Reilly isn’t the only high-profile conservative whom Lady Gaga can count among her legions of “little monsters.” GOP presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty is also a fan.

Pawlenty (or “T-Paw,” if you’re so inclined) opened up about his admiration for the singer’s talent after asking a trio of reporters in Ames, Iowa about their favorite Lady Gaga songs.

scaled-1 slideshow

Last night, New York became the sixth and largest state to pass a law giving same-sex couples access to civil marriages. In celebration, many in New York City’s historically gay West Village took to the streets to celebrate, while others took to Twitter to chronicle the occasion. Here is some of the best of what Twitter had to offer last night of a very special beginning to Pride Weekend.

gma_5.27.11 Video

Lady Gaga kicked off this year’s morning show concert series the way only someone who routinely wears 18-inch heels can: Hard.

According to GMA host George Stephanopolous, Lady Gaga was able to bring in the biggest summer concert crowd the show had had in the three years its been holding the series in Central Park, with 6,000 free tickets having been snatched up in a mere 12 minutes.

Irish Pop Duo Jedward Excited To Meet Obama: ‘One Step Closer To Britney Spears!’

Picture 1 video

Say what you will about bizarre-coiffed Irish confectionery pop trinket “Jedward,” but the kids sure have their priorities straight! While the Eurovision stars were thrilled about meeting and performing for the leader of the free world on President Obama’s trip to the British Isles this week, they made it very clear– on paper and spoken word– that they’re only using him as a stepping stone towards meeting the actual most important citizen of the United States: Britney Spears.

Bill O’Reilly Names Lady Gaga A ‘Patriot’ For Eating David Letterman’s Notecards

Picture 2 video

Bill O’Reilly has a well-recognized soft spot for bizarre pop thingamajig Lady Gaga, having invited her onto the program before and even told her she could BYOB the event. Tonight, he went as far as to call the derivative American icon a “Patriot” for eating a cue card on David Letterman‘s program.

SNL Digital Short: Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake And Andy Samberg Do A Three Way

gaag2 video

When Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake do musical parody, expectations are ridiculously high. Dick in a Box and Mother Lover are previous SNL shorts that were huge viral hits. So, how do they deal with the high expectations that typically kill a good joke? How about adding Lady Gaga for another parody of early 90′s smooth R&B-cum-Color Me Badd song satire.

Lady Gaga And Justin Timberlake’s SNL Sketch: Bring It Down To Liqueurvile

gaga video

Yes, Lady Gaga is riding high on her HBO special and is currently the hottest act in the music scene. But for those who may not remember the early aughts, Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that tonight’s first sketch on Saturday Night Live that featured both Gaga and Timberlake was remarkably entertaining. Having Kristen Wiig play the Tea Bagger character didn’t hurt.

Lady Gaga Describes The Childhood Bullying That Inspired Her In MTV Interview

Gaga video

This morning, MTV announced an upcoming documentary on the life of Lady Gaga and, in particular, how Stefani Germanotta, the girl from New York, became the “fame monster” we see today (who, by the way, just took on the #1 spot on Forbes’ annual “Celebrity 100″ list). A few clips from from the documentary, to be called Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside, have been released and one is particularly striking. In it, Gaga tells a story of an instance of bullying from her youth and relates how it helped make her who she is now.

War On Easter? Sean Hannity Promotes Lady Gaga’s Manufactured Song Controversy

hannity_war_on_easter video

Lady Gaga‘s new song Judas has predictably upset a number of Christian groups, who seem “unhappy about how much disrespect is being shown towards the Christian faith.” This was the news peg to a panel discussion last night led by Sean Hannity, in a segment entitled “War on Easter,” conveniently airing on Maundy Thursday (the day in which Christians observe the Last Supper of Jesus Christ in which Judas is revealed to be…well, Judas.) Product placement?

Fox News Invites Catholic League’s Bill Donohue To Review Lady Gaga’s ‘Latest Blasphemy’

On America Live this afternoon, interim host Martha MacCallum discussed what she referred to as Lady Gaga’s “latest stop on the blasphemy train:” Basically, the singer chose Holy Week – as in, the single holiest week for many Christians – to release a song ostensibly about her love for Judas, the apostle who turned Jesus over to authorities to eventually be crucified.

Born This Way: Lady Gaga Emerges From A Giant Egg For Grammy’s Performance

Image1 Video

Hot extraterrestrial Lady Gaga performed her new single “Born This Way” at tonight’s Grammy Awards and put on a pretty solid show – albeit a much, much tamer one than last year’s (Alas, no blood shed this time around). The pop singer emerged from a giant egg dressed in a form fitting, flesh-colored dress and waving around a pastel pink ponytail. She then played an organ (jokes to yaselves, please) adorned with gleaming, translucent heads wearing women’s faces.

The Year In Pop: Mashing Up Billboard’s Top 25 of 2010

katy perry

For the third year in a row, DJ Earworm has created a mashup of the top 25 songs of the year, as determined by Billboard, in his 2010 United States of Pop (Don’t Stop the Pop). Featured: Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Enrique Iglesias (really? He was back this year?), the Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Eminem, and — wait, no Bieber?!? I can’t imagine a 2010 mashup without the Baby hook that I still maintain ripped off “Runaround Sue” (oh look! Proof!).
