‘America Is Hated Around The World’ Because Of Obama’s Foreign Policy, Ahmadinejad Tells Fareed Zakaria
In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said America was hated around the world and should re-examine their policies. “They should see where the problem is — maybe the problem is in the United States itself. This is a friendly recommendation,” Ahmadinejad said.
Ahmadinejad To Fareed Zakaria: Iran Will Encourage Syria To ‘Reach An Understanding’ With Protesters
It’s been an earth-shattering week for Middle Eastern dictators, and with the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, many in the region are turning their eyes towards Syria’s Bashar al-Assad and Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as their people continue to struggle (though less violently) from within to free themselves from their regime. Ahmadinejad, meanwhile, is doing a round of media in America, talking to Fareed Zakaria in an interview airing tomorrow on CNN, and asking that the international community respect Syria’s relationship with its citizens.
When Horrible People Fight: Al Qaeda Wants Ahmadinejad To Stop Being A 9/11 Truther
Recently, while speaking to the UN General Assembly, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated a bunch of terrible stuff including his belief that the 9/11 attack was actually perpetrated by the US government to create cause to invade Middle Eastern countries. Obviously, this kind of talk is a direct slap in the face to every man, woman, and child who lost their lives on that day.
Apparently though, that also includes the, uh, terrorists themselves. It turns out that al Qaeda is pretty annoyed the Iranian president said these things. It makes sense if you think about it. I mean, say what you will about al Qaeda but those guys put a lot of work into that thing.
Ahmadinejad Essentially Tells Wolf Blitzer: ‘Iran Isn’t Gay, But Maybe You Are!’
Almost four years ago to the day, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was invited to speak to students at Columbia University, causing a pretty big stir among conservatives who thought it untoward for any U.S. university to give the combative world leader a platform to spew anit-Israeli rhetoric. Turns out, the most notable quote from that event was Ahmadinejad’s assertion that “In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals like in your country. In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon.” During an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer yesterday, Ahmandinejad again plead ignorance to any Iranian gays.
Jon Stewart Calls Barack Obama ‘The One Hardass’ On The UN’s Co-op Board
There are basically two ways to clear a room almost immediately: Feed an elephant several pounds of chili, or have Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad give a speech. And Ahmadinejad’s address did indeed lead to walk-out at the U.N., as the Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart pointed out. But there was more! Palestine, you see, recently sent a chair (as in, an actual piece of furniture meant for sitting) as a symbolic gesture in anticipation of its bid for membership in the United Nations.
Fox’s Greg Gutfeld Discusses His Desire To Urinate In Ahmadinejad’s Soup
So, yay, Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is back in town. Once again, he gave a speech to the UN General Assembly in which he questioned the Holocaust, the 9/11 attacks, and said nasty things about pretty much any country you’d actually like to visit while on vacation. Seriously, this dude could stand to learn something from our country’s best stand up comics. If you don’t retire your material and come up with new stuff every year, your act gets booooooring.
Anyway, like always, a bunch of delegates walked out and now all the talk show hosts are asking again why we even invite this guy. However, maybe the most appropriate response was suggested by The Five‘s Greg Gutfeld.
Even Ahmadinejad’s Anti-Nuke Comments Are Offensive: ‘Bombs Are For Retarded People’
Sometimes it takes an outrageous comment from a foreign leader to remind Americans of how advanced our capacity for empathy has become. To many in the West, it may come as a surprise that Iranian President (and, for all purposes, dictator) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has angered many of the country’s powers-that-be for being too “liberal,” especially given that his “liberal” comments now include blasting those who promote the ownership of nuclear weapons as “retarded people.”
Katie Couric’s Last CBS Evening News Looks Back On Five Years Of Headlines
Katie Couric delivered her final broadcast as the host of the CBS Evening News tonight, thanking her staff and those who hired her and emphasizing the “privilege and honor” of having been able to deliver the news there for the past five years. While it could have been a somewhat bittersweet affair (and, indeed, “Bittersweet Symphony” did play at one point in the background), Couric’s last treat– a retrospective of her favorite stories from her tenure– made it fascinating.
Jon Stewart Ridicules All The Republicans Who Ridiculed Obama At CPAC
Last weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was a veritable font of interesting news stories and entertaining video clips from conservative thought leaders and prospective Republican presidential candidates. While those who play close attention to the event focused on the political differences between the personalities who took turns at the dais, tonight Jon Stewart focused on their commonalities — namely their hackneyed jabs towards President Obama.
Best Tidbit In WikiLeaks Cables? An Iranian General Slapped Ahmadinejad In The Face
Throughout the hubbub over WikiLeaks recent batches of leaked cables, many people have pointed out that a large amount of the content is material the public may not have known, but probably could have guessed. Well, this story is certainly not like that at all. Der Spiegel is reporting of an incident described that took place during the furor over Iran’s disputed 2009 election in which a general for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard reportedly slapped President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad across the face. Now that’s some juicy classified information.
Jon Stewart Mocks Ahmadinejad’s Indignation Over Alleged Obama Rebuke
Diplomacy fever is in the air! That’s right, this week many of the world’s top diplomats, ambassadors and national leaders (elected or otherwise) have descended upon New York city for the United Nations General Assembly meeting. The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart took this as an occasion to make jokes, particularly at the expense of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who’s feelings appear to have been hurt because President Obama didn’t respond to a welcome letter he sent. Oh, then Ahmadinejad suggested to the General Assembly that 9/11 was an ‘inside job.’
Shepard Smith Will Interview Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tomorrow
Fox News’s Shepard Smith has just announced that he’ll be interviewing controversial Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tomorrow on Studio B and the Fox Report. The interview is a great get, even for the highest rated cable network—Ahmadinejad made headlines this afternoon when he suggested to the UN’s General Assembly that 9/11 may have been an inside job.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Suggests To U.N. General Assembly 9/11 Was An Inside Job
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke to the United Nations General Assembly this afternoon, sharing some rather provocative rhetoric over the United States worst terrorist attack in history. Ahmadinejad told the assembled diplomats, ambassadors and world leaders that the events that occurred on 9/11 were actually orchestrated by the U.S. Government. This prompted the U.S. delegation to abruptly leave the assembly hall while many other national delegates followed suit.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Tells Andrea Mitchell “Muslims Do Not Hate Americans”
Given all of the pitched rhetoric about Mosques, Koran burning and Islamophobia in today’s political and opinion media, its fair to say that this is a pretty big get. On last night’s NBC Nightly News, a respectfully scarf-clad Andrea Mitchell spoke with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who asserted that “muslims do not hate America,” shortly before chiding the NBC News reporter for interrupting him.
Iranian Website Denies Holocaust Using Anti-Semitic Caricatures
A new Iranian website has launched, dedicated to denying and mocking the Holocaust, particularly through caricatures. The website, holocartoons.com, has unsurprisingly angered Israel — and is actually relatively consistent with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s views.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Slams Paul The Octopus For Spreading Western ‘Propaganda’
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad isn’t exactly the most popular man in the Western world– understandable given his usual threatening bravado. It’s tough to go downhill from there, but it seems like Ahmadinejad will be darned if he doesn’t try: he’s now taken to attacking the single most popular personality of the Western world, Paul the Psychic Octopus.
Did Iran’s Twitter Revolution Only Happen In America?
In the protests following Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad‘s election last June, the media hailed Twitter a superhero. The social media tool became touted as a way for Iranians to communicate and organize. A Foreign Policy article published yesterday, however, argues that no such “Twitter revolution” occurred.
Newsweek Reporter Gets Jail Time In Iran For Gay-Looking Ahmadinejad Picture
A picture of two men in profile with insufficient depth can cost you jail time in Iran. Newsweek reporter Maziar Bahari just received a 13.5-year, 74-lash sentence for his coverage of Iranian protesters being attacked by military officials, and CNN’s Fareed Zakaria was curious about unusual .5 addition to the sentence. He found that it had to do with a photo of Ahmadinejad that appeared on Facebook, in which the president vaguely appears to be kissing another man.
Ahmadinejad Tells George Stephanopoulos That Osama Bin Laden Lives in DC
There goes the neighborhood.Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos interviewed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday, and among the revelations was the fact that Osama bin Laden has been living in Washington, DC. He made the claim in response to allegations that bin Laden is living in Tehran, invoking the classic diplomatic doctrine “I am rubber, you are glue.”
Ahmadinejad Takes Hugo Chavez Speech Class, Calls Obama “Cowboy”
Joining a chorus that now includes Sean Hannity, Charles Krauthammer, and Rudy Giuliani, Iranian head Mahmoud Ahmadinejad condemned “cowboy” Barack Obama‘s new nuclear policy, which would allow for nuclear attack against non-nuclear nations only when they do not comply with proliferation guidelines. Apparently no one has told him that George W. Bush isn’t president anymore.
Hugo Chavez, Tired Of Oppressing Bloggers, Becomes One
Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez announced on his weekend variety show Aló Presidente yesterday that he is about to expand his media empire to include a blog, where he could speak freely and openly about the issues that concern him. Funny, since last week he was railing against those who have mistaken the internet for a place “where you do and say whatever you feel like.”
Oh To Be A Fly On The Wall: Hillary Clinton Meets With Al Jazeera
Suffice to say that on her current trip around the Persian Gulf Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is not having tea with President Ahmadinejad. However she did make time to sit down with Al Jazeera the Arabic-language news network that, over the years, has had hot and cold relationship (to put it mildly) with the U.S.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, The Blogger ?
It’s nearly impossible to be surprised by political hypocrisy on any level these days, particularly when you are talking about iron-fisted rulers of countries like Iran. But still, this is sort of funny, in an Onion headline sort of way: Apparently, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran has a blog.
No News From Iran? Journos Are Fleeing In Droves
Complain all you want about Fox. Rage about the fact the White House has foolishly decided it’s a smart idea to return Fox coverage fire with (White House?) fire. At least we don’t live in Iran. Today the New York Times reports on what life is like now for journalists remaining in the country. One short word: brutal.
Larry King’s Moment: Grilling Ahmadinejad On Holocaust Denial
Larry King welcomed Iranian PresidentMahmoud Ahmadinejad on his show last night to look back at his week at the United Nations, but King couldn’t resist the chance to question Ahmadinejad about his Holocaust Denial. “What my understanding of the Holocaust is is the need to raise a number of questions,” Ahmadinejad told King at the beginning of the questions. “And I actually have raised those questions but unfortunately my words have been distorted by the media … they call it information, the ‘free flow of information.’”
