On the heels of his “To Catch A Journalist” sting video, conservative activist James O’Keefe sat for a nearly 30-minute interview for Mediaite on Monday, discussing his attacks on Huffington Post’s Sam Stein, and his discrediting of Rutgers Professor Jeff Keefe. Toward the end of our interview, I asked O’Keefe if he would mind answering a few nagging questions about his previous work, specifically the CNN sex boat “caper,” and the racial subtext of his ACORN pimp costume.

On Sunday morning’s Reliable Sources, host Howard Kurtz and panelists Michelle Cottle, Matthew Continetti, and A.B. Stoddard tossed around Mark Halperin’s ill-advised phallic non-bon mot, and made some key observations. In Halperin’s favor, he was assured, even “egged on” by Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski to go weapons free, but also that Halperin clearly premeditated the remark. It’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission, as the saying goes. Halperin weirdly did both.

James O’Keefe is the provocative “film maker” who can successfully list ACORN and Vivian Schiller‘s career at NPR as toppled targets. However, his technique of filming his subjects with hidden camera and editing out important context have received fairly harsh criticism from reasonable people on both the left and the right.

Somewhere in the last few weeks or months, O’Keefe and his friends must have gotten together and brainstormed for the proper response to all of the criticism directed his way, and came up with the following: a cheesy music video that fails a both earnest entertainment and ironic pastiche, but is unintentionally hilarious to watch!

On Wednesday night’s Colbert Report, conservative auteur and would-be Bizarro Captain Stubing James O’Keefe came perilously close to ensnaring host Stephen Colbert into his latest sting, an email effort to defer the cost of his so-called NPR sting video through online donations. Colbert saw through the plea as a ruse to associate himself with an unsavory criminal element, but didn’t ask the obvious question: how did O’Keefe compose a five page fundraising email to pay for an NPR video, and not offer his donors a frickin’ tote bag?

At last year’s CPAC convention, Andrew Breitbart and I had a much-publicized dustup over conservative dress-up artiste James O’Keefe (he of the undercover NPR “sting” video), concerning the racial overtones of O’Keefe’s choice to wear a pimp costume in the intro to his ACORN videos. That encounter didn’t go so well, but this year’s CPAC offered a fresh chance to discuss the issue. During a long lunch with Breitbart, liberal filmmaker Lee Stranahan, and liberal blogger Mike Stark, I finally got an answer to my question.

This month’s Playboy has a stunningly unusual and potentially disruptive article: an expose, purporting to be from an established Republican consultant, discussing how Washington hacks are controlling the political advances of the Tea Party.

It goes without saying that the 50-day long catastophe in the Gulf of Mexico has made offshore drilling far less appealing for much of the public. But not to Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu. Today on Good Morning America, Landrieu stressed the need to end the moratorium on offshore drilling in order to make her state’s people “whole.”

A Pew survey that shows MSNBC spent six times as much coverage on the James O’Keefe story as other outlets is being touted as evidence that the cable news network might have it in for the pimp-suited independent filmmaker. Just as likely, though, is that the other media outlets shied away from the story due to their complicity with the O’Keefe-as-journalist meme, and out of fear of being embarrassed again. That fear may be behind MSNBC’s new reticence to tell it like it is with O’Keefe.

Appearing tonight as a guest on Hannity, James O’Keefe gave his first interview since getting arrested in the New Orleans office of Senator Mary Landrieu. Despite repeated efforts by Sean Hannity to get some specifics, O’Keefe declined to share any details about his arrest since he is still subject to an ongoing investigation. That’s not to say that its not a fascinating video…

Conservative vigilante videographer James O’Keefe was a man of the web — making a name for himself online, most notably at Big Government, but also on the sites that tracked his exploits (ahem). Then Fox News took notice — and how could they not? Now, O’Keefe and his associates have landed on the front page of the New York Times — but not exactly under ideal circumstances.

James O’Keefe has published a statement about this week’s misadventures in Mary Landrieu’s office on Andrew Breitbart’s site Big Government. Whether or not what it discloses is the same ‘truth’ O’Keefe hopes will “set him free” remains to be seen. If so, he may be in for a rocky ride. Apparently, O’Keefe went to Landrieu’s in disguise and that’s just the beginning of the story.

Big Government’s Andrew Breitbart was interviewed today by MSNBC’s David Shuster over the arrest of James O’Keefe for allegedly spying, or phone tampering with the office of Senator Mary Landrieu. Things got heated quickly as the two engaged in a shouting back-and-forth over journalistic ethics, claims of slander and a pretty clear dislike of one another.

James O’Keefe — the upstart investigative filmmaker whose undercover video work got ACORN’s federal funding stripped — has been arrested by the FBI in Louisiana for attempting to wiretap the offices of Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu, according to the Times-Picayune. Mediaite chronicled O’Keefe’s rise to prominence last fall, from his big ACORN take down to his Fox News pimp costume. Criticism of Senator Mary Landrieu is turning ugly after allegedly changing her position on health care reform after receiving $300 million in aid to her home state. The right’s two most prominent commentators – Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh – referred to Landrieu as a prostitute. Keith Olbermann has asked where was the outrage from the conservative feminists (video below). We decided to go and find it.

Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La) has given new, disturbing meaning to the phrase “taking your lumps.” Since striking a bargain Friday that brought $300 million in federal aid to her state in exchange for a vote to allow debate on a healthcare reform bill, she has been called a prostitute twice, and been depicted as a user of non-herbal “essence” hair care products. Where’s the outrage?

Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank delivers an impassioned Sunday column today, using a literary allusion and extended metaphor to describe the dealmaking that occurred yesterday in the Senate.
