Earlier this week I was invited to join Joy Behar on her eponymous show to discuss some of the more pressing issues of the day: Was the TSA pushing it too far? Were Prince William and Kate Middleton headed for a rocky road? What did we really think of Bristol on “Dancing With The Stars?” I was joined by Laura Bennett, “Project Runway” designer and author of “Didn’t I Feed You Yesterday?: A Mother’s Guide To Sanity in Stilettos,” and comedian Jamie Kilstein, co-host of Citizen Radio.

I was on CNN on Thursday to discuss the recent ruling by the National Labor Board, which ruled that an employee’s use of Facebook counts as legally protected free speech where discussing work-related issues, even where it disparages the employer or the employee’s supervisors. Still, as I told Ali Velshi, that does not mean you should rush to trash your employer on social media.

Mediaite Managing Editor Colby Hall joined Vinnie Politan‘s nightly panel on Headline News’ Prime News this week for a rapidfire round of pop culture scrutiny. On the menu was the future of both Brett Favre and Lindsay Lohan, the wisdom of getting a tattoo, and crime caught on tape.

Today on Studio B, Mediaite’s own Colby Hall stopped by to discuss some of the biggest media stories of the week; namely President Obama’s appearance on The Daily Show and Joy Behar’s choice words for Sharron Angle. The two men seemed to agree on a number of subjects, never moreso than at the end of the segment, where they both felt that everyone is benefitting Behar’s comments, be it Angle, The View, or even Fox News and our little site here.

This morning, Rachel Sklar, editor at large of our sister siteMediaite, joined plus-size model and icon Emme on The Today Show to talk about the brouhaha surrounding Maura Kelly’s size-ist “Should Fatties Get A Room?” post for Marie Claire.

Joy Behar has been persona non grata over in conservative circles ever since she walked out on Bill O’Reilly a couple of weeks ago. The anger against her has only strengthened now that she’s called Sharron Angle a “bitch” two days in a row. Earlier today, Mediaite’s own Steve Krakauer had the unenviable task of defending Behar to Megyn Kelly on America Live.

Mediaite managing editor Colby Hall joined New York’s WPIX 11 News reporter Jodi Applegate to give his take on the Juan Williams/NPR firing-turned-media-war yesterday. While the controversy has stirred many emotions, if it can get Whoopi Goldberg and Bill O’Reilly to agree on something, Hall suggests, maybe it isn’t all bad.

Carl Paladino is not a fan of Joy Behar not being a fan of Carl Paladino. Last week, on The View, Behar joked that NY gubernatorial Tea Party candidate Paladino, who had a child out of wedlock (while he was wedlocked to his wife), could win the election “if all his illegitimate children vote.” Oof, Paladino and his people did not like that one.

The Washington Post‘s enormously comprehensive “Top Secret America” project – found at TopSecretAmerica.com – has rolled out since yesterday, and the reaction has been wide-ranging.

It got…feisty.

Yesterday I wrote a post speculating that Politico’s report that President Obama was the biggest recipient of BP cash was just the sort of easily politicized news story the cable sphere would jump on now that the Katrina comparisons were petering out. Specifically what I said was: “You can see where this is going…likely straight to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.” Turns out I was right.

Congratulations to Mediaite TV Editor Steve Krakauer on being profiled in this week’s New York Times Thursday Styles section as a rising blogger, even though we raised a wee brow at the notion that Steve’s reporting on ratings, personalities, trends and news on the TV beat counted as “gossip” any more than, say, MediaDecoder does. Steve was featured along with the Village Voice’s Foster Kamer, Media Takeout’s Fred Mwangaguhunga, Crushable’s Erin Carlson, Gawker’s Maureen O’Connor (whose shoes beat out Foster’s jaunty bag, it must be said), Fashionologie’s Tommye Fitzpatrick, The Gloss’ Lilit Marcus, Curbed’s Sara Polsky and Dealbreaker’s Bess Levin.

Luckily, it wasn’t “The List U Don’t Want To Be On” (Danny Glover got that honor on show #1). Instead, it was about the Conan/Leno late night story.

Let’s get one thing straight: If anyone could predict the future, we wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place. There were many smart people who gazed into the crystal ball a few years back and not only saw nothing, but doubled down on the Titanic (R.I.P. Portfolio). Smarter people, however, looked around at what was happening and bet on the future. This is the only model that will work in 2010 – because the future is here.
