Huckabee On Commuting Maurice Clemmons: ‘I’d Do It Again’
Mike Huckabee took to his show on Saturday to address his role in granting clemency to Maurice Clemmons, who murdered four Washington police officers last week. While governor, Huckabee commuted Clemmons’ 108 year sentence to 47 years, allowing Clemmons to leave prison in 2000 after 11 years. Now, Clemmons may very well be Huckabee’s Willie Horton. Mike Huckabee is a media star (although not at the level of Sarah Palin) and a GOP presidential contender for 2012.
But now Huckabee’s history is intersecting with a suspect accused of killing four police officers in Washington state – who he granted clemency as Arkansas Governor in 2000.
