Former Obama Spokesman Bill Burton Is In Mitt Romney’s Head
Mitt Romney‘s ”Believe in America” ad has generated a lot of coverage for its dishonest use of a quote from President Obama, and a great discussion on the absurd lengths the media take to avoid calling a lie a “lie,” but one obvious theme has been missed. The out-of-context tactic that the Romney campaign unapologetically used in the ad is yet another in a series of reactions to Bill Burton‘s sustained offensive on Romney.
Forget Hendrix, Was Obama Quoting Muhammad Ali When He Said Critics ‘Talk About Me Like A Dog’?
Is President Obama a Mad Men fan? On Monday Obama gave a fiery Labor Day speech during which he accused the Republicans of talking about him “like a dog.” There’s been speculation he was quoting Jimi Hendrix, however the line may date to Muhammed Ali, who uttered it to the press just weeks before his rematch with Sonny Liston in 1965.
Tiger’s Masters: The Grandiose Comparisons Will Continue Until Morale Improves
The understatement for the first quarter of 2010 is that CBS Sports has had an ok start to 2010. First, its broadcast of Super Bowl XLV became the most watched television program in history, to be followed by its annual domination of March and the NCAA Men’s hoops tournament. But there’s another spring event in the CBS Sports catalog that is going to be a bigger spectacle: this April’s Masters, and this year’s event has the tease of Tiger Woods return as its big draw.
Magazine Covers That Reference Other Magazine Covers
The latest issue of the UK edition of Esquire features actor/comedian Ricky Gervais shot with arrows. It’s a visual reference to the famous Muhammad Ali Esquire cover from April 1966, and that cover is, of course, a clever visual nod to the famous paintings of St. Sebastian. And although it may be time to give that particular homage a well-deserved rest, this got us thinking about other magazine covers that have referenced magazine covers. Here’s a brief recent history.
