Inside the White House Press Corps: NBC’s Chuck Todd

Inside the White House Press Corps: NBC's Chuck Todd

video

Chuck Todd, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent and host of MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown," is immensely quotable, as it turns out (as evidenced by the Drudge-driven preview clip that has been burning up the internet for days now).  Today, we go Inside the White House Press Corps for the rest of our interview, in which Chuck holds forth on the job of the White House reporter, the role of the Press Secretary, and the idea of media bias. He also tells us what he thinks of Fox's Family Guy and 24. (more...)

NBC’s Chuck Todd Blasts “Drudge Driven Journalism”

NBC's Chuck Todd Blasts "Drudge Driven Journalism"

video One of the reasons I started the "Inside the White House Press Corps" series was so that people could see a different side of the people who play a large part in guiding the American political narrative. In this preview of my interview with NBC Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd, we see a more animated figure than we're used to, discussing the "Drudge Effect" (my phrase) in journalism. Trust Me: More Americans "Trust" Fox News Than Any Other Network

According to conventional wisdom, liberals trust CNN and the broadcast networks more and conservatives trust Fox News more. And the results of the newest Public Policy Polling survey bears those results out. But even more specifically, more people overall trust FNC than any other network - and the breakdown shows some surprising results. (more...)

Old-School Reporter Asks Robert Gibbs Why it’s So Cold Outside

Old-School Reporter Asks Robert Gibbs Why it's So Cold Outside

video

World Net Daily correspondent and conservative radio host Lester Kinsolving, with an assist from NBC's Mike Viqueira, threw more hilariously loaded questions at Robert Gibbs from behind his signature shotgun mic. He touched on some subjects sure to tickle the sensibilities of the birther/global warming denier/dittohead set when he asked Press Secretary Robert Gibbs why it was so cold out, did the President visit the hospital that Rush Limbaugh stayed in in Hawaii, and...just what hospital was the President born in?

A lot of people make the assumption that questions asked by reporters are automatically reflective of that reporter's beliefs, or the credibility they give them. In Viqueira's case, at least, it was tongue-in-cheek:

Lester: Just two questions. Considering -- considering the continuing reports of record worldwide cold, how does the President believe that there was justification for the millions spent on that conference to try to promote acceptance of global warming?

MR. GIBBS: Well, I think one only has to step outside here or visit where I used to work in Chicago to understand that climate change is -- and the record temperatures that climate change is likely causing is with us.

Lester: Thank you. While he was in Hawaii, did the President visit the hospital where he was reportedly born, which is which one? (Laughter.)

MR. GIBBS: I don’t believe I saw any pool reports of hospital visits.

Mike: Robert, you attribute today’s weather to climate change?

MR. GIBBS: I don’t know what specifically causes today’s snowfall --

Mike: Or the cold that’s gripping the nation you attribute --

MR. GIBBS: I would say that there are, even in places that are used to getting very cold weather, record cold. I think scientists will tell you that whether it’s in and around this country or throughout the world that our weather patterns have been affected by our change in our climate, yes.

O'Reilly/NBC Feud Takes New Turn; Network Exec Happy It "Has Nothing To Do With Us"

VIDEO When we talked to CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus this week about the network's big victory Sunday, we ended the conversation with a question about the GE/FOX feud. "Thank heavens it has nothing to do with us," he told Mediaite. The GE/FOX feud shows no signs of letting up, with Keith Olbermann again targeting Fox News hosts during his "Worst Persons" segment last night, and still throwing in a Bill O'Reilly reference at least once a week. And on The O'Reilly Factor, the Fox News host turned his attention to a new NBC News anchor. (more...)

Brian Williams Tries To Defend David Gregory, Fails

Brian Williams Tries To Defend David Gregory, Fails

And Williams tried some evasive, vaguely defensive maneuvers to sidestep the issue. (more...)

Media Gives Hate-Mongering White Supremacist Airtime, Facetime and Helpful PR

Media Gives Hate-Mongering White Supremacist Airtime, Facetime and Helpful PR

This is unbelievable. In last night's "NBC Nightly News," Pete Williams had a segment on the Holocaust Museum shooter, James von Brunn, and they presented a guy by the name of John de Nugent to attest to his pre-shooting mental state. Which John de Nugent, you ask? This one - the one who thinks that white men and women should "take back their honor"; the one who says that "When Jews attack and lie, I must be doing my job very well"; the one who thought he should be president and wrote this on his "John de Nugent for President" page: "You will notice my outreach to blacks, appealing to their self-interest. We don't need a race war with blacks triggered by the Jews who are stage-managing Obama and may yet murder him to start a race war." Oh. That John de Nugent. (more...)
