We wrote earlier about Dr. Jack Cassell, the urologist from Florida who posted a sign in the window of his practice which read “If you voted for Obama, seek urological care elsewhere.” A few hours ago, Fox News had a local radio host on to plead the good doctor’s case but, Neil Cavuto got the interview from the doctor himself.

Last week, I finally had the chance to see “11/4/08,” Jeff Deutchman’s documentary about the day Barack Obama was elected President. It was made by dozens of amateur videographers and professional filmmakers, myself included, who captured the tense hours building up to that joyous and cathartic moment when Obama was elected — strangers hugging strangers, spontaneous crowds dancing in the streets.

On Fox & Friends, an emergency heart procedure for an ex-president is a perfect opportunity for an ultra-partisan hypothetical situation: “If the democrats’ health care reform had gone through would President Clinton have received the stents?” The two stents Clinton was given on Thursday provided a jumping off point for a highly convoluted (and perhaps insensitive?) undermining of health care reform plans and the stimulus package.

A new offensive has been launched against President Obama, and if it catches on it may make as much noise as a Birther at a Town Hall. It’s the new “Hope Is Fading Fast” t-shirt from LA streetwear company Freshjive — a sad, disappointed take on the iconic “HOPE” poster by Shepard Fairey. 220-215 may sound close, but given the sad, elusive nature of Universal Health Care in years past, it’s hard for me to see yesterday’s House vote on health care as anything but a massive victory for President Obama.

“The time for bickering is over. The time for games have passed.” President Obama struck a tough tone tonight in his address to a joint session of Congress about Health Care — and got a little of that back courtesy of a heckle from Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), who shouted out “You lie!” during Obama’s speech, succeeding in getting himself in the first graf of pretty much every story on the matter.

It’s a depressing read though: As you go through it, myth by myth, the distortions are clear and incredibly frustrating to see. Watching a few hours of Fox News these days amounts to a non-stop infomercial opposing the Obama Administration’s effort to reform Health Care. While there is always room for a healthy debate on the issues, please don’t look to FNC for a measured discourse – they rarely, if ever, present a constructive solution to the current health care problems (though there is the occasional admission that there is need for reform.) No single entity seems more entrenched in the opposition to the health care reform than Fox News.

On Friday, the former Alaska Governor posted some grade-A crazy talk on her Facebook page, alleging that the Obama health care plan promoting “Death Panels” — where “his bureaucrats” would decide the fate of babies like her son Trig, born with Down Syndrome. The echoes of the accompanying cuckoo-clock noises had barely died down when Newt Gingrich rushed in to agree with Palin that Death Panels were, indeed, cause for concern. Exactly the health care issue Obama wanted!
