Conservative media provocateur Andrew Breitbart made news at last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference by hectoring Occupy DC protesters with cries of “Stop raping people!” On Tuesday night’s The Young Turks, host Cenk Uygur challenged Breitbart over his rant, and his assertions that the mainstream media hasn’t been covering sexual assaults at Occupy protests. Breitbart told Uygur his rant was “a stunt to go over the mainstream media, to get people talking about the rapes.”

At Washington DC’s Marriott Wardman Park Hotel last night, one of several Occupy DC protests escalated into a clash with Metro Police, as a group of more than a hundred protesters made their way onto the grounds of the hotel, the site of the Conservative Political Action Conference. The police, in part of a disturbing pattern, used force and threats of arrest to keep reporters away, and even detained at least one credentialed CPAC blogger.

On day two of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Occupy DC created a few disturbances. A group of several hundred protesters tried to advance on the Marriott Wardman Park hotel, but were turned away by police, who also threatened to arrest Slate’s Dave Weigel. A bit later, a group  of about 20 Occupiers managed to crash the hotel, chanting “We are the 99%!”

They were quickly removed by police and hotel security, to heckling from CPAC attendees.

Rick Mingus was just an ordinary Washington DC citizen who liked to sit in the park — until one day, Occupy DC protesters pushed him over the edge…and he picked up a pair of scissors.

Thursday night, Bill O’Reilly offered his reaction to being followed last night in DC by a man who repeatedly asked him whether he had attended a fundraiser for GOP presidential hopeful and former Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich that night.

Occupy Wall Street movement is the exploitation of reports of sexual violence by opponents of the movement, particularly conservatives stung by the negative press that the Tea Party received. At Occupy DC Monday, I spoke with several of the protesters to see if they were aware of the issue, what they thought of the coverage, and most importantly, what was being done to keep people safe.

During my visit to Washington, DC’s Occupy encampment in McPherson Square yesterday, I had the chance to interview Bryan Meister, a former Democratic campaign worker who is something of an unofficial spokesman for the Occupy DC camp, and I asked him about the incidences of Occupy protesters shouting down Fox News reporters. He defended the autonomy of individual protesters, but when pressed, allowed that “It does not help our image.”

On my first visit to an “Occupy” encampment on Monday, I strolled around the sedate Occupy DC camp in McPherson Square, trying to get a feel for the thing, when a pink-haired protester who bore a strinking resemblance to Milla Jovovich began shouting over a megaphone for people to “grab a sign, protest something, challenge authority!”

At that point, another protester came and took the megaphone away from her, a fun bit of Occupy Irony.

Making its way around the conservative blogosphere is this viral video of 78-year-old Dolores Broderson being shown laying sprawled over the steps of the Washington Convention Center Friday, where the Koch Brother-funded Americans for Prosperity was hosting its “Defending the American Dream Summit”. Various conservative blogs have reported that Broderson was shoved down the stairs by Occupy DC.

While the Occupy Wall Street movement has captured the imagination of genuine activists nationwide, intrepid libertarian reporter Michelle Fields for The Daily Caller uncovered that some protestors were being paid off to attend one of the rallies in Washington DC. “Some of them are volunteers. Some of them aren’t. I can’t identify them. I’m not going to get into an identification game,” admitted an organizer from DC Tenants Advocacy Coalition, a group that advocates for affordable housing.
