Republican PA Gov. Tom Corbett On Ultrasound Bill: ‘You Just Have To Close Your Eyes’

Corbett video

The resistance to the so-called Republican War On Women may have just gotten a new rallying cry. One of the tipping points in that war was the Virginia forced ultrasound law that would have required women seeking abortions to undergo a medically unnecessary transvaginal ultrasound. In discussing a similar measure in Pennsylvania, Governor Tom Corbett (R-PA) told a reporter “I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes.”

Meghan McCain Tells Rachel Maddow Occupy Vagina Law Will ‘Penetrate Beyond Politics’

On Tuesday night’s The Rachel Maddow Show, host Rachel Maddow discussed the vice-presidential ambitions of Vagina Governor Bob McDonnell (see what I did there?), and delved into some of the loonier aspects of his past (and present) socially conservative positions. Meghan McCain then joined in to assess the effect of Virginia’s proposed mandatory ultrasound law, which she said would “penetrate beyond politics” and make McDonnell a “toxic candidate.”

Conservatives Defend Virginia’s Occupy Vagina Law On Basis That All Penetrations Are Created Equal

Abortion opponents have leapt to defend Virginia’s pending forced ultrasound laws, which would require many women seeking abortions to undergo a medically unnecessary transvaginal ultrasound, on the basis that this coercive form of penetration is no different than the (usually) consensual penetration that resulted in the pregnancy to begin with, or the more invasive procedure they’ve chosen to have. Big Journalism‘s Dana Loesch delivers a prime example of this rationale.

Virginia Legislature Passes Occupy Vagina Law

The most underrated prong in the current Republican War on Women’s Health is also that struggle’s most literal prong. While birth control, Planned Parenthood, and Bayer aspirin have been getting the most attention the past few weeks, the Virginia legislature has come a step closer to rendering the first two syllables of its name a cruel irony, passing a law that would force women who want to get a legal medical procedure to undergo a medically unnecessary vaginal probe.
