Charles Krauthammer: ‘Rather Pathetic’ To Suggest Presidency Is An Impossible Job
Last week, Newsweek‘s Daniel Stone published a piece with a provocative thesis: that the American presidency “has grown, and grown and grown, into the most powerful, most impossible job in the world.” In other words, says Stone, the presidency is too big a job for just one man or woman to handle alone.
Columnist Charles Krauthammer, however, isn’t buying it.
Obama, Carter, Clintons Top The Daily Beast’s List Of Best-Selling Politicians-Turned-Authors
What with all the brouhaha over George W. Bush‘s revealing interview with Matt Lauer, you may have forgotten that the former president’s memoir, Decision Points, has been released today. In honor of that occasion, the Daily Beast took a look at which politicians-turned-authors have moved the most volumes. At the top of their list? Barack Obama, whose two books combined have sold a staggering 4,650,000 copies.
Glenn Beck Is Concerned For Obama’s Safety On India Trip
The main uproar over President Barack Obama’s upcoming trip to India is how much it may or may not cost, but Glenn Beck (while also wondering some about the cost) has a different question: will the president be safe?
Obama Claimed That Most Job Loss Came Before His Policies; Politifact Claims He’s Right
When President Obama appeared on The Daily Show Wednesday night, he made a claim that may have caused some viewers to take pause. “Most of the jobs that we lost were lost before the economic policies we put in place had any effect,” Obama told Jon Stewart. But Politifact, the St. Petersburg Times‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking operation, has taken a closer look at the President’s statement—and found that it holds up.
Bill O’Reilly: Obama Believes That He Saved This Country From Armageddon
President Barack Obama’s appearance on The Daily Show last night was destined to be a TV talking point in the days that followed, and tonight Bill O’Reilly got right down to analyzing the program shortly after his show started, enlisting the help of Laura Ingraham to break it down.
Pres. Obama Disputes Charge Of Legislative Timidity On The Daily Show
President Barack Obama tonight became the first sitting President to appear on The Daily Show, and the first guest to be interviewed for the entire show.
The wide-ranging discussion with Jon Stewart was heavy on politics, reflecting on the past two years (and the campaign) and had a few brief moments of disagreement between host and guest.
Andrew Sullivan Laments “Excruciating Trap” On Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
Earlier today, Virginia Phillips, a judge of the United States District Court, issued a critical ruling suspending the U.S. military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy on gay servicemen and women. Whether it holds up or not, it’s a powerful strike against a policy President Barack Obama says he wants repealed – but, as The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan pointed out, it’s a strike that may die at the hands of the Obama administration’s Justice Department.
Update: Obama Book-Tosser Is A Fan Of The President, Not A Detractor
Mystery solved: the Associated Press is reporting that the man who threw a book at President Obama in Philadelphia yesterday has been questioned and released by the Secret Service. Apparently, he’s an overzealous fan of Obama, rather than a rabid detractor like the guy who threw a shoe at George W. Bush in 2008.
Obama’s Presidential Seal Falls Off During Speech
Tonight on his “Oddball” segment on Countdown, Keith Olbermann took a look at the strangest moment from President Barack Obama’s speech today – the Presidential Seal falling off his podium in the middle of his address.
SNL‘s Rahm Emanuel to Peter Rouse: “Are You Ready To Kill A Man, Pete?”
Tonight, Saturday Night Live opened with a sketch that lampooned Rahm Emanuel‘s tearful White House farewell speech. Fred Armisen‘s Barack Obama opens the segment with a rather harsh assessment of Emanuel, calling him “a man who has twisted a few arms and poked a few chests. A man who knows no fear, but knows how to make others afraid.”
Obama In Full-On Fiery Campaign Mode In Speech To Under-40 Crowd
President Barack Obama spoke to Generation 44, a group of under-40 supporters, tonight in Washington. CSPAN televised the proceedings, which proved that Obama still has his fierce supporters – and still has a fierce way with words, when he summons it.

Well, it’s official—after weeks of speculation, President Barack Obama‘s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel will be stepping down tomorrow in order to launch his campaign for mayor of Chicago. Obama is expected to name Pete Rouse, a senior adviser, as his new chief of staff.
Bill O’Reilly And Bill Maher Duke It Out Over Obama, Makeup Of American Politics
It was a much-anticipated clash of pundits on both sides of the political aisle when Bill O’Reilly had Real Time’s Bill Maher on the Factor tonight in the No Spin Zone. They disagreed on plenty (of course), but they managed to keep it (mostly) civil – and O’Reilly even laughed at a few of Maher’s lines.
Obama Says He’s “Amused” By Jon Stewart’s Rally To Restore Sanity
Add another name to the list of those who find Jon Stewart one of the most reasonable voices in news, real or fake: President Barack Obama. Speaking in Arlington, Va., Obama gave a tacit thumbs-up to Stewart’s upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity – and those who exemplify the “sanity” it promotes.
Fox News Host Greg Gutfeld Tells Pres. Obama Why He Needs Fox News
Pres. Barack Obama fired a shot at Fox News earlier this week when Rolling Stone published an interview with the President that included a less-than-flattering appraisal of the network (“It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world”). Now, Fox News has begun to fire back.
Charles Krauthammer Chides Obama For “Narcissism” On O’Reilly Factor
Bill O’Reilly began one segment on the Factor tonight by reveling in the results of a recent Politico/George Washington University poll that said more Americans get their election coverage from Fox News than any other network, and that suggested O’Reilly himself is viewed as having a largely positive impact on national discourse. O’Reilly noted that most media people didn’t talk about this poll (this site, of course, excepted), but O’Reilly and guest Charles Krauthammer did…and Krauthammer came to the conclusion that President Barack Obama displays strong narcissistic tendencies.
College Republicans’ TV Ad Pokes Fun At Internet’s Love For Obama, Chris Matthews
It’s no secret the internet was a powerful tool for Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential election, but the College Republican National Committee decided to turn that fact on its head in a recent ad called “The Break Up,” in which they encourage young people so enraptured by Obama’s campaign two years ago to, well, break up with the president.

President Obama Condemns Ahmadinejad’s 9/11 Accusation: “It Was Offensive, It Was Hateful”
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made waves yesterday when he suggested before the U.N. General Assembly that the U.S. government may have orchestrated the terrorist attacks of September 11. (Maybe the Iranian leader was still stinging because President Obama never responded to a message) Ahmadinejad sent shortly after he was elected to the American presidency.

A new ABC News poll states that only half of Americans citizens still believe in The American Dream. Or, depending on the type of person you are, half of Americans no longer believe in The American Dream.
The polls results indicate that when asked, “Do you think The American Dream — that if you work hard, you’ll get ahead — still holds true, never held true, or once held true but does not anymore?” 50% of Americans answered with “still true,” 43% with “once true,” and an entire 4% with “never true.”

Obama Defends ‘Ground Zero Mosque’: “We Are Not At War Against Islam”
Today, Barack Obama unambiguously defended Park51’s right to exist. After Fox News correspondent Wendell Goler asked the president to “weigh in on the wisdom of building a mosque a couple of blocks from Ground Zero,” the Commander-in-Chief responded with resonant—if not exactly original—words about the United States’ dedication to upholding individual liberties.
