Bill O’Reilly And Bernie Goldberg Tear Into NBC For Handling Of Romney/KKK Story

Last week, MSNBC reported on a story about how Mitt Romney had been using the phrase “Keep America American,” a staple of the Ku Klux Klan. As it turns out, the story was not exactly true, and Chris Matthews issued a public apology on the network’s behalf sometime thereafter. On tonight’s Factor, Bill O’Reilly and Bernie Goldberg discussed the story, with Goldberg suggesting this was a product of the management’s attitude towards news, not just the producers who ran the story.

Former Owners Of The Wall Street Journal Say They Wouldn’t Have Sold Paper To Murdoch ‘If We Had Known’

According to a report by ProPublica and the Guardian, key members of the family that controlled The Wall Street Journal now say they would not have agreed to sell the paper to Rupert Murdoch if they’d known about the phone-hacking underway at the time at News Corp’s News of the World. “If I had known what I know now, I would have pushed harder against” the Murdoch bid, said Christopher Bancroft, a member of the family that controlled Dow Jones & Company, publishers of the WSJ.

Has the NYT Magazine figured out a way to save newspapers? The Times Magazine has seen cuts on three dimensions this summer — the cover is both shorter and skinnier (and the whole thing seems thinner). Times invesitgative pieces are notoriously expensive and this weekend’s is no exception.

However, this time around the Times did not foot the bill. Pro Publica — the non-profit journalistic outfit supplied the $400,000 story. Is this the future of investigative journalism?
