Sean Hannity Asks Juan Williams: “What’s Wrong With Racial Profiling?”

Sean Hannity video

It would have been a lot of fun to be on Sean Hannity‘s show last night. During its “Great American Panel” segment, a discussion about airport security led inevitably to a discussion of Fergie’s recent experience with a body scanner—which spurred Juan Williams to possibly make Fox history by uttering the phrase “lady lumps” on air. Williams’s comment sparked both laughter and an observation from Hannity, that he had “lost all control of the panel.” And then Hannity had an unfortunate slip of the tongue that only made the segment sillier.

This Week: The Pros and Cons of Racial Profiling And Arizona’s Immigration Law

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sparked new controversy over Arizona’s so-called “Show me your papers” law when her announcement (during a June 8 interview on Ecuadoran TV) that the Department of Justice would be suing the state of Arizona reached Governor Jan Brewer last week. The debate carried over to ABC’s This Week, where Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren (who sparred with Mediaite over the issue on Friday) made an excellent point.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made news yesterday when Arizona Governor Jan Brewer noticed a statement that Clinton made in a June 8 interview with an Ecuadoran TV station. Secretary Clinton revealed that the Department of Justice will be filing a lawsuit challenging Arizona’s so-called “Show Me Your Papers” law. A DOJ spokesman wouldn’t confirm this, saying “The department continues to review the law.”

Rep. Steve King Tells Congress He Is A Victim Of Profiling As A White Man In A Suit

When the new Arizona immigration law was first passed, a provision giving police the authority to check immigration status when faced with visual evidence that a suspect is in the country illegally caused controversy because even the state’s governor, Jan Brewer, admitted she didn’t know what an illegal immigrant “looked like.” On the House floor today, Iowa Rep. Steve King argued that “looking illegal” isn’t about race– it’s about “common sense.”

You know it’s a bountiful week of news when even Jon Stewart feels overwhelmed. On last night’s Daily Show, Stewart did his best to cover every single news story in detail, which meant some rapid-fire analysis of floods, spills, bombs, riots, racial profiling and questionable fashion complete with the second-grade science project equivalent of the Gulf oil spill and a racial profiling test Florida Congressional candidate Dan Fanelli failed. Video after the jump.

Father Jonathan Morris Opposes The AZ Immigration Law, But Thinks Profiling Is Fine

Father Jonathan Morris, Fox News’ resident spiritual adviser, was on The O’Reilly Factor last night to discuss comments by Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony against the new Arizona immigration law. In the process, by opposing the law while supporting racial profiling, he might have proven why Roman Catholic priests don’t make the best political commentators.

Retired Air Force General Suggests Strip Searching All Young Muslim Men

“We have to use profiling. And I mean be very serious and harsh about the profiling,” said retired Lt. General Tom McInerney of the U.S. Air Force, suggesting that the United States adopt the profiling guidelines of Israel in order to protect ourselves from an airline attack. “If you are an 18 to 28-year-old Muslim man then you should be strip searched,” he said. If we don’t do that, we’re going to lose an airliner, he explained.
