Former Dean of the White House Press Corps Helen Thomas is making news again after granting her first broadcast interview since her controversial retirement (she first broke her silence in a brief interview with Mediaite). While printed accounts of the 35-minute radio interview have focused on her inflammatory remarks, subsequent apology, and her opinions of flashpoint politicians Christine O’Donnell and Sarah Palin, they ignore a portion of the interview that packs an emotional wallop.

What unites them all, broadly,” writes columnist Tunku Varadarajan, “is their influence on the public debate, and their place on the political spectrum—which is somewhere to the right of center.”

5QQ – David Folkenflik

David Folkenflik is NPR’s media correspondent and the man whom Geraldo Rivera once called “a really weak-kneed, backstabbing, sweaty-palmed reporter.” His professional record indicates otherwise: Folkenflik has won numerous awards for press criticism and investigative reporting, and has broken/advanced the ball on many big media stories like the Tribune Co. woes as well as bringing [...]

Baby, If You Ever Wondered Whatever Became of Me: Sarah Palin To Do Radio?

Everyone wants to know where Sarah Palin will land next. Homemaker? Talk show host? We’d be happy just to be able to pinpoint her on twitter. Now Inside Radio is speculating she may be testing the talk radio waters. Sound like something you’d listen to?

NPR’s Scott Simon – A Face for Video!

Mediaite ran into Scott Simon at last week’s Personal Democracy Forum and he was kind enough to chat with us. (Actually we didn’t so much run into him as recognize his voice across a room during a panel and follow him out the door. Some people get excited over Anderson Cooper, some people get excited over NPR hosts!)
