One argument for the GOP nomination Mitt Romney has over his rivals is that his time in the private sector gave him enough experience to effectively create jobs, and because unemployment figures are so dismal, the nation should put Romney in charge so he can fix it. But with the latest numbers showing unemployment is steadily dropping down to 8.3 percent, Chris Matthews wondered if Romney will be able to sustain that argument for much longer.

Today’s edition of The Chris Matthews Show featured a small little awards ceremony to honor the most important political moments of the year. Chris Matthews dedicated the first award to President Obama for his “Best Move” of the year. The nominees for the category were the death of Osama bin Laden, the Libyan invasion, the fulfilled promise to withdraw from Iraq, and his unifying speech to the nation following the Arizona shootings and critical injury of Gabrielle Giffords.

Let’s hope all this attention–and now status as TIME‘s Person of the Year–won’t go to Mark Zuckerberg‘s head. He is, after all, a 26-year-old billionaire and the guy who has control over basically every picture you’ve posted online in the last three years.

The announcement was made live this morning on NBC’s TODAY by TIME managing editor Richard Stengel.

It seems Wikileaks’ latest project– a compilation of several millions of diplomatic cables replete with confidential information embarrassing to a wide array of nations– was the last straw for editor-in-chief Julian Assange. After a verbal lashing from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Assange is tossing the ball back into her court, telling Time he would like to see her step down. Meanwhile, his Swedish misadventures have landed him an arrest warrant from Interpol.

Soccer teams from countries all over the world have already gathered in South Africa to compete in the World Cup, but at the end of the month the country will play host to different types of national representatives, like heads of state and CEOs of the world’s biggest companies. Did someone say boondoggle?

After all of the speculation that Barack Obama was going to be Time‘s Person of the Year for the second year in a row, the award went to … Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. Since announcing the pick, Time has been sending signals that seem to say that President Obama, who was announced to be a finalist for the award on Monday, but was not really in contention after all:
